MoparWoman Jamie Posted March 8, 2014 Posted March 8, 2014 Man I love your build here! I thought I was doing a crazy build myself, but after coming into this thread.. I don't think I'm crazy anymore.. only insane! LOL I also hear ya on the drill part, I been there quite a few times myself.
Tony-442 Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 One more updated pic. Kenny B. Ooooh, That is one bad ride, eh boyz..? So many people rake the frame out, but don't extend the hood too. You're doing an amazing job! Wicked work on th rivets too.
rcdave Posted April 14, 2014 Posted April 14, 2014 Nice build, I think you and I are the only ones to hand build a working 5th wheel but I couldn't talk myself into doing the rivets and I tought about it several times.
Kenny B Posted June 8, 2014 Author Posted June 8, 2014 (edited) Well it's time for somemore up dated pics. I have the hood and cab done with the rivets. I broke my last drill bit again so the grill isn't done yet. Total count of rivets to date is 1162. How many more to go? Thanks for the coments. Kenny B. Edited February 4, 2018 by Kenny B
tbill Posted June 8, 2014 Posted June 8, 2014 wow......you gotta change your name to rosie the riveter that's a lot of rivets, but the results are way worth it, looking good!

Custom Hearse Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Feeling worn out from all the little holes you have drilled? Tired of dreaming about the little details you've added? Have you broken more than one drill bit? Here at Rivet Counters rest Home, you can sit back and relax without having to deal with all those pesky little rivets! We have a pool where you can swim in comfort, a 65 inch wide screen TV (we will not show any movies like "Smoky and the Bandit", the residents try to count the rivets on the truck, and then argue whether there were 2230, or 2240), and we have the state of the art padded room for the counter who just can't stop. For reservations call 1-800-RIVET-ING This truck is a masterpiece! Really enjoying the work you're putting into this build, and I'm definitely looking forward to the next update!!!

Marshall, I sure will give them a call. Maybe I can smuggle in a few classic truck movies. Anyone that would like to join me feel free to come along. Bring popcorn. Ken.
Kenny B Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 (edited) I think that I am finished with the Rivets.???? I had to break down and purchase three more drill bits (just in case) to finish the hood. For all the other Rivet counters out there grand total so far is 1202 or is it 1204? Here is some up dates. The under hood bracing is a little different than it should be but I really needed the clearence for the exhaust pipes coming off the turbos. The chrome was removed from the grill. Lets cut the center out and make it look more real. Much better I think. I also removed the headlights an built the old style single type. Thanks for all the comments, I will post more soon. Kenny B Posted June 15, 2014 Author Posted June 15, 2014 (edited) More updated pics. The turbo wing is done with rivets. After my third try to put on grill bars I think that I have them straight. I scratch built the old style headlights. Will post more soon. Kenny B Edited February 4, 2018 by Kenny B

truckabilly Posted June 21, 2014 Posted June 21, 2014 Very nice work. I like the hood bracing even with the clearance modification. And headlights too. The whole thing looks great. And I don´t mean the scale..... .
kilrathy10 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Flat out....One of the most awesome projects I've ever seen....
Petetrucker07 Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Patience is a virtue. You sure need it with all those rivets. Excellent work so far
Kenny B Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 (edited) Well it's been a while since my last update. The last of the rivets are put into the cab. I'm finally done with them. Total count of rivets installed is 1230. I didn't want to use the stock mirrors so I built new mirrors and new mirror arms and mounting brackets. All the body work is complete and everything gets a good coat of primer. All the parts that are to be chromed are painted gloss black and then painted with Alclad chrome. All the chrome parts are done. Getting ready to paint the rest. Thanks for the comments will post more soon. Ken. Edited February 4, 2018 by Kenny B
youngtiger1 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 Great update and nice to see how well the alclade chrome worked out for you. I have it but haven't had the opportunity to us it. Not much chrome on military jets Btw, glad to see that your done with rivets. They sure take a lot of time. I'm restoring lost rivets on my kit right now but I'm cheating a little by using resin rivet decals Mike
redneckrodder Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 lookin good those new mirrors really look sweet
