Well, ya' know drawer-pulls were a popular way to customize grilles in the '50s-early '60s. Maybe this is the result of a little misunderstanding and an attempt to go retro, or a translation error, eh? Kinda goes with the rat-rod thing of screwing a bunch of non-functional junk to a car.......

Or maybe it had some mechanical issues. "Joey, did you take my car to the garage-man?". "Don't worry mom, I got it handled."

I just noticed the Russian website origin of the pic. Maybe these are sacrificial handles, in hopes that the theives will take a handle or several, and leave the windshield wiper blades.
