bigphoto Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 whump, whump, whump Baby!! It is a great sound to hear when you one is waiting to leave somewhere!!
Jim B Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Gotta' love the Huey! Such an iconic helicopter with a very uinique sound. And, Andy, you're right, you always know when one is flying around. You can feel & hear them long before you can see them.
Draggon Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Great video, but it doesnt even come close to the "whump whump" you feel in your bones as it passed overhead.
Sixx Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Man, I dig a Huey!!! That sound is just AWESOME!!!!!!!!
impcon Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 They are very pretty in their own way and one of my favorite aircaft. Thanks for posting..
Erik Smith Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I have been fortunate enough to fly in quite a few Bell helicopters - 205, 206, 212, 412...in addition to Hughes, Lamas, and a few others. That sound when a 212 is coming in is unmistakable. Bell 210
crazyjim Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Don't forget to take off your flak jacket to sit on before flying.
Guest Johnny Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Don't forget to take off your flak jacket to sit on before flying. Yep, they did have a mighty thin belly. Don't ask how I know, but will say it grounded me for life. Did get to take the controls one last time in one that a friend rehabbed a few years ago.
Guest Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 My very first aircraft flight of any kind was in a Huey. Shortly after I joined the National Guard, before basic, I was still in civvies, we had a meeting, and used some Hueys out of Holman field in St. Paul for manuevers. What a thrill. This beautiful bird will always be my favorite, followed very closely by a earlier sister, the Bell 47.
