Jeff Johnston Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 This is one of my favorite kits, and a that I have built at least 4 times...I even liked it when it was molded in Red LOL This is the revell - former Monogram 1/24 kit...Painted Testors Black lacquer with urethane clear. The interior is some color of plastikote red. Once in a while I venture into the open doors realm, and this kit has been calling me for a long time. My original intention was to paint it Emberglo, but the black testors has given me such good results lately, I could not resist. I did the engine detail form a variety of courses. RM&M holly carb, ignition coil and distributor, detail master breather cap, detail master wires, and the heater hose is that wire that toys are tied in with...you know, that real thick stuff thats such a pain. Well, I keep it and paint it as heater hoses...this is painted red oxide enamel. Now off to finish my 49 Mercuyy...which by the way is in the purple pond due to a painting malfuntion (the fender skirts popped off, taking along a huge chunk of paint off the wheel wells) *DOH*
Captain Obvious Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 That is outstanding....excellent work!
lizardlust Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 BEAUTIFUL - the finish and hinged doors make it resemble a "Mint" offering!! The suspended pedals add greatly to the interior realism, as does the correct spare tire and rim. Replica stock doesn't get much nicer than this!!
Billy Kingsley Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 You've done some great stuff before, Jeff....But nothing quite like this. VERY well done!!
Frank Steffens Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Excellent work Jeff! Nice and clean....that wire for the heater hoses is a great idea!
Harry P. Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Very impressive work all around. The extras you added really kick things up a few notches....I especially like the authentic looking trunk mat. That's a seldom-seen detail. A big "thumbs up" on this one!
Luis Ayala Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 ABSOLUTELY GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Outstanding Job... Congratulations, the level of detail is just amazing...
Harold Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 (edited) Wow- the level of detail you put into this puppy is killer- I especially am impressed with the dashboard and the trunk details. Killer stuff. Edited September 12, 2007 by Harold
MrObsessive Posted September 12, 2007 Posted September 12, 2007 Lookin' Good Jeff!! The doors open exactly how a '65 Mustang should open............and your trunk bracing and door jambs are extra well done! One question for ya though........Where'd you get the double redline tires?? I would LOVE to have a set of those!
Jeff Johnston Posted September 12, 2007 Author Posted September 12, 2007 One question for ya though........Where'd you get the double redline tires?? I would LOVE to have a set of those! Hey Bill. Actually. The red line tires are the kit tires with the kit supplied double redline decal. It was a real pain but I eventially got them lined up properly...then I mashed them down with a really hot paper towel. Thanks for the kind words everyone !

I have to pick that kit up sometime!
Daniel Peterson Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 I must say I agree with everyone. This is a benchmark build. It's not the details so much as the execution of the details...and believe me there's a difference. You can never go wrong with a glass-like black paint job, and you pretty much nailed all the other elements. It is simply stunning. One thing...I hope the tires are in good condition, because that spare looks like it went flat.
Matt T. Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 Gorgeous build, Jeff. Great craftsmanship, and so clean! I'll be looking for it at the next NNL East.
oldstyle Posted September 13, 2007 Posted September 13, 2007 WOUUUUUUUUUUUUU ..a Very Nice Smooth finish details are Very good Uwe
kelson Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 simply outstanding! congrats on a striking build!
Andy Wyatt Posted September 17, 2007 Posted September 17, 2007 I'm not what you'd call a big fan of the Mustang but your build is absolutely stunning! The engine detailing and the beautiful black paint job are amazing!
