Ron35369 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 This is a Revell 98 Saleen Mustang Speedster that I painted in HOK Razberry Pearl with black interior. This is a highly recommended kit that goes together very easy & has loads of detail. Hope you enjoy the photos.
adabiri2 Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Looks sharp!! What color is that interior, looks spot on. That looks like a 302 w/ pro charger, is that factory for that year?
Ron35369 Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 Thanks guys! Ali, the interior is Testors spray flat black with Testors semi gloss clear sprayed over it. The supercharger was added on by Saleen during the conversion.
S. Svendsen Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Don't see those built very often. Very nice.
slusher Posted January 28, 2013 Posted January 28, 2013 Awsume build anf great color and paint finish...
Ron35369 Posted January 28, 2013 Author Posted January 28, 2013 Thanks for the great comments Sean, Jason & Carl. It was a fun build ...as all of them should be.
Dirkpitt289 Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 I like it a lot but its too bad the hood doesn't seem to lay flat
Kaleb Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Now I need to build mine, looks great. I'll be honest, that rear spoiler seems like it sets up too high. I know it's the kit supplied spoiler, but most of the s281s I've seen set lower.
jrherald420 Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 (edited) I like it a lot but its too bad the hood doesn't seem to lay flat The one I built was the same way. Also the top fit like BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH, almost like the windshield angle didn't match the height of the top. Edited January 30, 2013 by jrherald420
Ron35369 Posted January 30, 2013 Author Posted January 30, 2013 I agree with Dirk, I could not get that hood to lay flat on the drivers side. I almost glued in in the open position but it broke up the "fluid" lines of the overall car with it open. My up top seemed to fit almost perfectly, especially after I tweaked one front corner a smidgen. I'm not sure if the spoiler sits too high. The mounting points could be sanded down a touch to get it closer to the trunk lid. I thought it looked ok as it was. Overall I still recommend this kit. It was fun to build & most everything fit quite well.
Kaleb Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 It may be, I'm just going on what I've seen in the past. I just now sanded mine down. We will see how it goes once the paint is on. I got my hood to lay down a bit more by sanding the sides. The hood also is sticking up partially due to the "hinge" I noticed this while trying to get it to lay down. Idk if it will be hitting something once its all together.
brett Posted January 31, 2013 Posted January 31, 2013 beautiful color on yet another outstanding build of yours
Ron35369 Posted January 31, 2013 Author Posted January 31, 2013 Thank you Brett, that's very kind of you Joshua, yep, everything is pretty tight under the hood on this one. I wasn't sure the hood was going to go down at all with the supercharger sticking up like it does
adabiri2 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/tuners/112_9805_1998_saleen_s351/viewall.html I didn't know they put 351W's in the saleen. I thought they were all 4.6's. Trick flow heads, lightning intake, Viper 6 speed. Geezz!!!! Must have been usin all the pushrod 5.8's to get rid of them. 98' was last year for ford producing pushrods engines. 302 for sure(Explorer/Trucks.) Idk about 351w. I wonder if 99 up Saleens had 4.6?
freakshow12 Posted February 1, 2013 Posted February 1, 2013 that model depicts an s351 yes. supercharger was a vortech s trim and was an option. the s351 was built in very low numbers in 99 then the feds cracked down. I have had the pleasure of riding in one of these and they are fun!
bogger44 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 Hmmmm, looks very familiar to me. I built one in a slightly darker shade of red, with a black interior. Your's looks very sharp, love that shine. I agree that this is a great kit, everything falls into place with little fuss. On a side note, I didn't have the hood fitment issue with mine, luckily.
Bill Eh? Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 What a sweet looking Saleen. The paint colour really suits it.
Sixties Sam Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 That is really a nice model! Great work on the finish. Sam
rustybill1960 Posted February 2, 2013 Posted February 2, 2013 And the HITS keep coming! Really like the color Ron! Thank You for sharing Later Russ
