106miles Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Hi all. My 8 year old girl completed this Revell Mustang. It is her first model (I helped just a little). The only pink paint I had was some ancient brush-on Pactra paint. It was brushed on, sanded, and clear coated! She did a great job with the decals too. She wants to get another model, which is cool.
Vrschoof Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Awesome! I have to wait 7 1/2 years then untill my girl will do something like that, right now she steals my time haha Great model! cheers
Dominik Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 A princess with her "barbie-car" Congrats to your daughter! Looks fine from my view - well done!
W-Machine Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 (edited) I think the kid did a fine job. And the pink is very girly-girl. I'm sure that your daughter had a good experience. Good, clean fun. Edited February 16, 2013 by W-Machine
'70 Grande Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Great build; and the best part; a rock-solid connection and memory with your daughter! I raised 2 of them; now they're both grown up and have started their own lives, but I still have some memories like these! Good job, dad!
kennb Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 very nice clean build...................................
106miles Posted February 16, 2013 Author Posted February 16, 2013 Thanks guys! She has an artsy side, but I don't think she'll have quite the car bug that I do! She's really enjoying reading the feedback!
slusher Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 She looks so happy, very nice build. l am sure your proud of her.
Captain Obvious Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 That is fantastic, and a whole lot better than my first build was!
Rob McKee Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 She really did a nice clean job of building this mustang. Great to see kids building and even better to see the big smile.
realgone58 Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Cute little girl! Paint came out fantastic! My daughter just turned sixteen, and never took an interest in cars like us. (of course she's ready for a 1:1 now) You are a lucky Dad.
patami Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Big Tumbs up for the young lady and her pink stag. And you dad quick give her her next build. The girl got talent. To day its just so nice to see that naot all the kids are like prefab is the only way. Send my warmest congrats to her on a job well done.
hacked Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 very well done, can't wait to see the next one, and i bet dad's smile was as big as hers
Sixties Sam Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Great job on the model! WARNING - In eight more years she'll want you to buy her a real one like that! The paint looks great - can't believe it's brushed on! Nice work, both of you! Sam
charlie8575 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 VERY nice job smoothing out that paint. Looks like it could be a Mary Kay promotional car! She's a beautiful young lady, and did a very nice job with that. Keep her building something- cars, planes, ships, figures. Kids don't work enough with their hands anymore and have lost the art of appreciating delayed gratification. Keep her at it, and she can point the way to her school mates and friends that instant satisfaction isn't all that great. As Rob said, that winning smile says it all. No faking that. Charlie Larkin
Pro Wrench Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 This is probably one of the best posts on this entire forum. It's a rare thing these days to see a parent that actually takes the time to do something like this with their child. Let alone a child of the opposite sex. Kids that get this kind of attention are the ones a whole lot less likely to go into a school and start shooting. My hat is off to you.
'70 Grande Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 WARNING - In eight more years she'll want you to buy her a real one like that! Boy, ain't that the truth!
VERNON Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Fantastic job, It's always great to see kids getting involved in the hobby. Keep up the great work! Thanks Dad for being a part of it. Vernon
srt-4 Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 That's is a great job! Like other said before it's great to see a young lady take to the hobby, and great to see a parent not setting their kid in front of a tv. Keep up the awesome work, both of you, look forward to seeing her next project!!
