Ira
FILLIN' THE GAPS! I cut 2 pieces of plastic to fill the Fenders areas... I glued it in place, here it is after a little sanding. Front View...
Ira
THE UNDERSIDE! I cut a piece of plastic to fit in the Engine Cover Hole. Then I glued it in place. I also cut 2 small pieces from the donor rear body to fill the 2 areas at the front corner... Next I glued 2 pieces of Plastic Strip and glued them on the inside edges of the Access Hole. Then I cut another wider strip to fit on the front edge. This gives me a good shape for the Access Panel. I cut a plastic piece to fit between the front corners. When glued in place it formed the bottom of the Intake Opening. Then I cut the Access Panel from Sheet Plastic and fit it in place... Ira
Very sweet. I always thought it'd be cool to build the aerotech as a two seater. Then my mind went to tandem seats, with a rear gunner ala WW II US Navy style. Sounds like an interesting build...
Jonathan
Sounds like an interesting build... Thanks. I just need to get it out of my head and into plastic. Maybe you can run with it...you're quite the inspiration with plastic!

Ira
GLUE IT TOGETHER!!! I did some fitting & cutting untill the top and bottom Rear Vents matched up inside. "Corregated Metal" Sheet Plastic was used to cover the Vents. I can finally glue the Rear Sections together! (I was using Blue Tape to hold the body untill now.) Next I cut 2 pieces of plastic to fill the wheel openings and glued them in place. More Coming...
Ira
To get inside Ira's mind would be a place not understandable to most of us mere plastic dabblers. I like everyone else will be eagerly following this build to see what he finally comes up with. Me Too!

Ira
GOT PRIMER!!! Finally got the body nice & smooth, so I applied a few coats of Filler/Primer. I decided to remove the last of the front wheel bumps so I marked the areas for removal... I cut off most of the excess plastic and then I used a sanding block to get the areas flat.... I cut 2 pieces of plastic to fill the areas and 2 more to fill the small triangular holes, then I glued them in and sanded them smooth. Ira
ROUNDING THE REAR!!! I cut the back of the AeroTrec off straight but I didn't like the look so I used a bowl and drew a nice curve for the rear. Here it is after a little cutting and sanding... I cut 8 lengths of 1/4" aluminum tubing, sanded and polished them, then glued them together as shown... These are the exhausts, more photos later... Ira
GETTING READY FOR SOME COLOR!!! I added Landing Gear from the AMT X-Wing Fighter Kit. The body is now nice and smooth, ready for paint... I cut a piece of sheet plastic to be the back of the interior and glued it in place. The black areas were an experiment that went wrong. I painted the body with a Candy Blue, then there were drips and then I grabbed it and left fingerprints in the paint. So now I have to repaint the AreoTrec... More Coming... Ira
GOT PAINT!!! I repainted the AeroTrec, first with a Black Undercoat, then with a few coats of Testors Lime Ice Paint. This left some Black in the Intakes, for added depth. I used 2 sets of Tuner Tribal Flames on the sides. One set on the rear sides, then the second set cut short and turned upside down on the front sides. The Tribal Flames on the top and bottom are from a 12th scale Revell Chopper. Three coats of clear finished the job! Edited April 9, 2013 by Ira
Custom Mike
Ira, it looks great! I just want to see that exhaust in place, you've gotta find a way to get flames shooting out if it too!
