Ognib Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Love the all aluminum motors. Bill, have you weighed the twin turbo unit?
vintagedragfan Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 no I haven't Ray, need to do that just for grin's
TedsModeling Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 (edited) You guys build such accurate engines, I use them as reference since I can't see the real things. I can't wait for Tyrone to get into 1/16 scale. Edited July 28, 2013 by TedsModeling
Evil Appetite Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I havent been building for the last 4-5 months. Bought a new Jackson and have been playing that instead of building. These engines may have just inspired me to start building again!
comp1839 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 "These engines may have just inspired me to start building again!" one of the points to this thread........inspiration!
Russell C Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Top Fuel isn't my specialty by any means, so I had to refer to a bunch of various photos to be moderately sure I was plumbing & detailing it realistically. A fun diversion back in 1998 for me.
Ognib Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 That's a very realistic looking engine, David. Fantastic. My flathead work in progress.
stump Posted July 31, 2013 Posted July 31, 2013 My 1/12 scratch-built BAE style Hemi, awaiting more work and a car to run it in. All accept the blower (modified Revell unit), pulleys and assorted nuts and bolts was scratch-built using a 1/24 Revell T/Fuel motor as a starting guide.
GrandpaMcGurk Posted August 1, 2013 Posted August 1, 2013 (edited) Great looking engines guys........ This "in progress" is a 1/25th fantasy Olds............ Edited August 1, 2013 by GrandpaMcGurk
Chris in Berwyn Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 There was discussion of Phil Castronovo Custom Body decals on page 2 of this discussion. I finished them, then Chuck Boerner took my graphics and improved them. He is selling a 1/25 version of the decal on eBay, and you can see it and his other decals on his Photobucket page. I am having trouble pasting here, but if you google stang1forever photobucket you will find his page. Chris
W-409 Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 I think I posted a picture of this engine when it was in progress, but here's a couple of finished shots. '62 Impala Super Stock's 409. And this is the Hemi of a '71 Barracuda Pro Stock.
Chris in Berwyn Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) W409, those carbs are works of art! Whoops it posted twice, but those are nice carbs! Edited August 8, 2014 by Chris in Berwyn
MikeBoyle Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 First I've seen this thread. There are some very well built and detailed engines in here. Here are a few favorites of mine. Hosted on Fotki Built this one 16yrs ago. All scratch built, no aftermarket parts. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Built 12 years ago. Scat Pac intake and header scratch built.
F/CNUT Posted August 8, 2014 Posted August 8, 2014 (edited) Here is the Chi-Town Hustler engine that I did last year. Edited August 8, 2014 by F/CNUT
W-409 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 W409, those carbs are works of art! Whoops it posted twice, but those are nice carbs! Thanks Chris! Usually carburetors are really unrealistic straight from the box, so I thought I should try to make them a bit realistic by adding a couple of details and painting them. The carbs on that Impala are detailed without any Photo Etch parts and on the Hemi I used PE parts... It sure makes a difference. Those fuel line fittings are scratchbuilt and they are far from perfect, though.
Codi Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Hi, This is my first post on the Forum...I took up the hobby after a 40 year layoff about 3 years ago. This engine is Ford 351W with Arias Hemi heads...twin turbo...lenco..mostly made of solder, aluminum, real titanium, plastic block and heads (all scratch) & a few aftermarket aluminum pieces. About 12 months building it off and on. I can provide more detail on the engine if you're interested. It's 1/25th scale btw. http://public.fotki.com/Steppenwolf56/henry-j-twin-turbo/henry-j-twin-turbo-59.html#media
