Quick GMC Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 one of two models I have completed. This one fired better than the BOSS 429, but still some issues with sanding through the color coat. This was painted with ZERO then clearcoated, then tons of sanding. I'll get it right some day. I used the MCG photo etch kit for the interior, exterior badges, wheel centers, hood vents etc. Mufflers painted with Alcla flat aluminum, pipes painted with Alclad stainless steel Air cleaner cover painted with Alclad chrome and weathered.
drifterdon Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Wow. This is as good as the Boss. I love the weathering on the undercarriage. Great job.
Johan020 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 (edited) Beautiful build and very nice details Edited April 10, 2013 by Johan020
Dominik Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Very nice - my thoughts, as i see the first picture: Wow!
Quick GMC Posted April 10, 2013 Author Posted April 10, 2013 Another nice build, but I need to let you know, Chevy engines of this vintage, from the factory as in your build, are Chevy engine orange, not blue. But a very nice job none the less. I realize that, but I'm building a 1/12 57 Chevy and I'm tired of staring at orange. I thought it would be a nice change. It is GM Blue though, if that counts
'70 Grande Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Really like this build! Your chassis paintwork is outstanding! How did you get the edges of the frame "highlighted" like you did, (especially right behind the front suspension and front wheels)? It looks really good; I'd like to try your technique on some of my future builds!
jparsons1969 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Awesome paint job and details. I really liked the Boss alot too.
silverdreamss Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 very nice build live the detail and the bare metal foil
bbowser Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Always thought the 67's were the best looking of the Chevelles. Outstanding model, great weathering.

You can buff it to a shine after, but when you use it dry for dry brushing, it comes out super thin and shiny already after you scrape the brush across the surface. On metal colored parts I spray the color I want, then do a wash, then dry brush the high points, so I get at least 3 metal colors in there.
Chris White Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Wow nice job. I almost thought I could take a swim in that roof, that is some nice paint.
ewaskew Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Very nice Chevelle man. That sanding through just happens sometimes. I sand very lightly and hold them at an angle to see how its going and I keep it wet, wet, wet as I sand. Looks like you had no problems with the Chevelle.
