slusher Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 Lee very nice work on your engine. it looks better then some kit engines..
Guest Posted April 20, 2013 Posted April 20, 2013 (edited) Just in case anyone missed it, the engine I am basing this on is the 6 cylinder from Trumpeter's 63 Nova. Thanks for the compliments guys. Edited April 20, 2013 by midnightprowler
Guest Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 The intake and exhaust manifolds have been cut, resized and reassembled. I hope to paint engine parts and start assembly next weekend. I only et a couple of hours on Saturdays for building, so progress will be slow. But this build is a primary one, so will be focusing on it.
disabled modeler Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 I like it... Not all cars were pure muscle the plain Janes are a welcome sight to me makes ones collection more realistic in my opinion. I have several 6 cylinder projects to do once I find the engines for them.
Guest Posted April 21, 2013 Posted April 21, 2013 Got the engine parts painted . Assembly next weekend.
Guest Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Here is the completed engine, minus the air cleaner and valve cover decals, they are drying.
Tom Geiger Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 As we say every time someone creates something cool.... You should've had it cast! I can't wait to see it finished. It would be a treat to see it sitting on a show table and gauge the reactions of guys when they see the four in there!
Guest Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 Thanks Tom. Roadhawg said the same thing about casting it. If someone wants to send me a Trumpeter 6 cylinder, I will do the cutting and reassembly work, send you the parts in exchange for a copy or two of the castings.
roadhawg Posted April 28, 2013 Posted April 28, 2013 That looks fantastic, Lee! Looking forward to more.
Guest Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 That motor looks kinda familiar! Nice work Lol, it should!
Pro Wrench Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I also had a friend in high school that had one. As others have said, it didn't have enough power to pull the hat off your head. We ended up putting a 400 small block in it. Since we used the stock tranny and 4 cylinder converter the thing had a stall speed of about 3000 rpm. Worked great until the converter ballooned. LOL
Guest Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Rolling chassis complete sans radiator, battry and washer bottle.
Eshaver Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Lee, this a most unique project . Thanks for sharing it with us too.
Chuck Most Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Love that engine- I have a Trumpeter I-6 I'm planning on converting into a four-cylinder as well. I built one of these a while back with a straight six- pretty soon I'll have seen every 1:1 available engine in this kit.
