crazyjim Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Here's one I finished today - the AMT Ice Cycle. Not much to the kit, but what a fun build! I used HOK white with some magic sprinkles in the first clear coat and then some kandy apple red for highlights.
cobraman Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Cool build on a "strange" kit. Did you make the hinge ?
crazyjim Posted May 9, 2013 Author Posted May 9, 2013 Thank you, Ray. Yup. Make the hinge from brass wire and Evergreen tubing. I was thing of trying to pull some cotton real thin so when the cover is open the cotton would flow out like condensation on a warm day. Maybe I'm just crazy, though.
TooOld Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Great looking paint ! I think it's a cool little kit and a great stress reliever !
slusher Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 Cool little build Jim, l have never seen one before...
chevyfever2009 Posted May 10, 2013 Posted May 10, 2013 I have this kit is it simple to build does things fit or u have towork them to
crazyjim Posted May 10, 2013 Author Posted May 10, 2013 Thank you, fellas. I got this thing in a trade. I had never seen it before but figured what the heck. I had issues trying to get the roof in place but eventually figured it out. The wheels were the a major pain.
fatkidd Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 Nicely done, Jim. I was going to creatively bust your chops about something, but I can't...its well done
crazyjim Posted May 11, 2013 Author Posted May 11, 2013 Thank you, Fatkidd. Please don't burst my bubble.
fatkidd Posted May 11, 2013 Posted May 11, 2013 can't do it on this one...I'll save it for later. mwahahaha!
Tony T Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Very 'cool' build! It looks like you had fun with it which is the real treat!
crazyjim Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 Thanks, Tony. You're right. It was a tension relieving build.
TooOld Posted May 25, 2013 Posted May 25, 2013 Jim , I just dug my kit out of storage to look at it and I was kind of surprised , it's big ! The box says 1/25th scale but it looks closer to 1/16th scale .
crazyjim Posted May 25, 2013 Author Posted May 25, 2013 The box I had, or the instructions, said it's 1/12 scale. I have the extra bicycle w/sidecar on the bench getting a bunch of Revel 1/12 scale chopper parts. It's going to be wild.
TooOld Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 That's interesting , I must have a newer reissue as it definitely says 1/25th on the box . You've got me curious now , I can't wait to see what you do with the bicycle !
crazyjim Posted May 26, 2013 Author Posted May 26, 2013 The "bicycle" is on the bench. So far I widened the seat portion so a tire will fit underneath, casted a Revell Harley engine for it, and now I'm making a tube frame to set the HD engine in. I'll probably use a HD Sportster type gas tank.
AzTom Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 That looks great. love the paint. I have the one that says 1/25 but I was guessing 1/18. Glad to finally know the correct scale. Be back in a few, going after an ice cream bar, yummm.
crazyjim Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 Thank you, Tom. I scream. You scream. We all scream for ice cream.
disabled modeler Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Now that is what I call cool...LOL... Very nice work Jim!
jerseyjunker1 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Thank you, Ray. Yup. Make the hinge from brass wire and Evergreen tubing. I was thing of trying to pull some cotton real thin so when the cover is open the cotton would flow out like condensation on a warm day. Maybe I'm just crazy, though. i love this. the colors are bright and those little bells crack me up.as for the cotton condensation i did the same thing in reverse using cotton.instead of cold condensation i made smoke coming from a grill. i streched it thin and lightly painted it with some gray primer you could maybe paint it with a little flat white for your effect.here is what mine looks like. i guess we are both a little crazy.HEH.HEH.HEH.
