sjordan2 Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 (edited) Here's a Fujimi from Under Glass. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=74676 Revell made a 1/16 928 Rally, hard to find, and I don't know anything about it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-928-technical-forum/440760-928-prices-drop-but-collectables-go-up.html Edited May 15, 2013 by sjordan2
WizPorsche944 Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 The new re-released Tamiya 928S does have engine detail.
CrazyGirl Posted May 15, 2013 Author Posted May 15, 2013 Walter , does the hood open and all for the engine ????

WizPorsche944 Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 Thanks for the info , just bought it !!, love that car Your welcome, its a very nice high quality kit. I have it in my stash
Foxer Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 That's nice .. and a full 928 engine! How unfortunate it's 1/20 ..
slantasaurus Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I picked up a Testors boxed Iltari Porsche 928S4 off ebay a few years ago. Nice kit, full engine detail, and 1/24th scale.
WizPorsche944 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 How about the original Revell 928 kit ( the one with the red 928 on the box ) did that have engine detail ?
beeRS Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 How about the original Revell 928 kit ( the one with the red 928 on the box ) did that have engine detail ? Yep - the Revell kit has an engine. It's a full engine, but the induction pipes are a little out of scale (too thin). The whole Revell kit has slightly odd proportions. The Fujimi one is much better - but of course it's not a full detail kit. I've always thought a combination of the Fujimi body with the Revell engine/drivetrain would make a nice 1/24 model.
Porscheman Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) The best engine detail for a 928 and 928S from 77 to 86 is the Tamiya model. Later models, the 928S4, 928GT and the 928GTS had a different engine design. Hope this helps. Edited May 16, 2013 by Porscheman
CrazyGirl Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 what is wrong with a 1/20 scale ? just curious
The Creative Explorer Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Revell made a 1/16 928 Rally, hard to find, and I don't know anything about it. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-928-technical-forum/440760-928-prices-drop-but-collectables-go-up.html Depends where you live, they pop up over here quite regurarly and Revell made also a streetversion.
Draggon Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Dont know anything about that AMT kit, but there are 4 available from this guy on ebay. It's 1/24 so obviously not an AMT tool. http://www.ebay.com/itm/AMT-PORSCHE-928-1-24-Model-Car-Mountain-Kit-FS-/330827053247
The Creative Explorer Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) I think it is the Airfix/Italeri 928 Edited May 16, 2013 by The Creative Explorer
Porscheman Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I think it is the Airfix/Italeri 928 It is the Airfix 928. The proportions are off on this kit. The pop-up headlights are not sloped with fender and the kits are also reccessed. The rear tires sit way to far into the body, they should be close to the fender as shown below.
The70judgeman Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) I picked this about a month or so ago.And yes, it has an engine. The hood is molded in with the body, but real thin around it. So, it's pretty easy to have the hood removable to show the engine. Edited May 16, 2013 by The70judgeman
WizPorsche944 Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 (edited) I have a pretty rare 928 kit from the early 80's I believe its made by Ninco. I will dig it out and post up a picture. Edited May 17, 2013 by WizPorsche944
Foxer Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 what is wrong with a 1/20 scale ? just curious Sorry, it's just me. I like all my builds to be one scale so they are relatively correctly sized next to each other on the shelf. It probably is greatly influenced by the fact that lately I've been building the cars I've owned. I started with AMT's 1/25 kits in 1958 so that's my preferred scale and what most are anyway that I like. I do let 1/24 in, though, but 1/20 is just too big to look right for me.
