Harry P. Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 I've had my apartment broken into, rifled through and robbed while I was at work, back when I was just starting out (my early 20s). The front door and door frame was kicked down. I've had my car broken into and the stereo literally ripped out of it while the car was parked in the garage! My son's car was stolen the day after Christmas, 2012 (happy holidays, right?). What's wrong with people? Man, I wish I knew.
Tom Geiger Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 and don't count on the cops to help you either! When I was renovating a house for my daughters to live in, the central air conditioning unit was stolen off the back of the house. We knew one of the workers did it. He had threatened to do it. We had a neighbor as a witness. Air tight case? Even the cops thought so. They called him up and asked him to come in for questioning. He refused. The cops told me they couldn't go get him because he lived an hour away. They said if he had voluntarily came in, they would have arrested him. But they wouldn't go get him. That cost me $2500.
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 19, 2013 Posted May 19, 2013 Yes, and late last week some maggots broke into a vacant house owned by a friend of mine and stripped all the copper out of it...wiring, water and gas pipes, and all the AC lines. In a residential neighborhood with a business right next door. "Nobody saw anything", and though the value of the copper couldn't be more than a couple hundred bucks, max, it's MANY THOUSANDS of dollars worth of work to repair all of the damage, the house can't be occupied until it's fixed, and the insurance company is already trying to refuse the claim because the house was vacant.

W-409 Posted May 20, 2013 Author Posted May 20, 2013 Well I got the Tunturi back Yesterday. A couple of guys had seen it very near where it was stolen, and on Sunday when my friend was buying Ice Cream at local Gas Station, then my Tunturi came there to be refueled. The guy who stole it, didn't pay for the gas, but he managed to put some Two Stroke Oil to the Tank also. He called the Police and they stopped the guy even if he tried to get away. Only the Steering Lock is now a bit broken, but otherwise it works fine! I just bought the biggest lock I could find for it so it is not that easy to steal it again.....
Ace-Garageguy Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 GREAT TO HEAR IT !!!! I hope the thief is in jail.

Austin T Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 (edited) Glad to hear you got your Bike back. I'd feel the same way if my Trail 70 was stolen. Edited May 20, 2013 by Austin T
kitbash1 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I call it the decay of society. We all have a front row seat. My late father would say it's because of a lack of moral fiber.
zenrat Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Good to hear Niko. Those built in steering locks are rubbish on any bike. Most of them can be broken with a good kick. If this little beauty was mine i'd be making sure I locked it to something solid every time I left it as it's light enough to lift into the back of a van or ute.
W-409 Posted May 21, 2013 Author Posted May 21, 2013 Thanks guys! And yes, the Steering Lock is not the best I have to admit, but now I bought a big and strong lock. Now if someone will take it again, then he or she really must want it! It will need a saw or something to break. I will put it around a Tree or something now always and I will make another trick for it too, so no one will be able to start the engine except me... Of course with those 6 Volt electrics that come from Magneto while engine is running (No battery) everything is not possible, but.... And it is burning tire as it was before!
Tom Geiger Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Glad to see you got your bike back! Just be glad it was an idiot who wanted to go riding instead of someone who would have stripped it for parts!
kalbert Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Great news! That is a sweet looking bike. I've always liked the early DS stuff like that.
W-409 Posted May 24, 2013 Author Posted May 24, 2013 Thanks guys, and yes I got really lucky that he just wanted to drive with it, about 3 to 6 Miles from the place where it was stolen. And I'm so glad that he didn't break it while driving, it still is very reliable...
JM485 Posted May 24, 2013 Posted May 24, 2013 Awesome to hear you got it back, time to ride it and enjoy it!
