azers Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) After seeing a picture in the what if section of a toronado crossed with a superbird i decided to put a old builtup to good use. I took a old built up of a 1967 toronado and the remains of a revell daytona kit and combine the two. I lowered the front to level the car. I found matching wheels in the parts box. I plan to reuse the as much of the built up as possible to stay close to the picture. Edited May 27, 2013 by azers
blunc Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I think there needs to be a "What If?" CBP thread now... no time limit of course since there's no telling how long it will take to make some of the "special" versions of automotive icons.
PappyD340 Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Very interesting Joe, but it actually looks quite nice, good color choice, nice work!!!!
W-Machine Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Very cool idea. The Toronado styling lends itself quite well to the "Daytona" concept. Will it still be front wheel drive?
Jeremy Jon Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) Neat idea, that's what I call a "land yacht"! Check out Jay Leno's 1000hp Toronado video, it's pretty cool! Edited May 28, 2013 by Jeremy Jon
Erik Smith Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Cool. I like the tire/wheel size in the concept and where they sit in the wheel wells - sometimes the Daytonas appear to have too small tires set back too far. Nice work so far on the body! It flows well with the new nose.
azers Posted May 27, 2013 Author Posted May 27, 2013 Yes I am going to leave the toronado front wheel drive and just detail it. The plan is to detail it out and keep it as much toronado as possible. I like the picture so well i plan to keep this project as close to the picture as possible. I decided to keep the hood stock and just lengthen the nose ahead of it. Also the daytona nose and superbird noses are slightly different, so in using the daytona nose it flows more with the body. I did a lot of measuring before i cut and trimmed so the nose would not look so short. Thanks for the comments. Ill post more pictures as I get more into it.
Sixties Sam Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Wow! Great concept! The 'Bird nose looks good on the Toronado. Can't wait to see it finished. Sam
BKcustoms Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Wow, I like this! I can't wait to see more progress.
