Jantrix Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I've been parting out a lot of kits and my wheel/tire collection is getting problematic. I keep sets in lil baggies but finding them is still a mess. I try to keep everything together, wheels/backs/tires/accessories and I really need a better method of doing so. I'd love to hear about or see some alternatives. Thanks.
jeffs396 Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I buy the clear plastic Plano fishing lure boxes at Wally World. Adjustable dividers inside allow for big 'ol 4x4 tires or smaller car tires.
vypurr59 Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Plastic parts boxes, available in sporting goods dept, or craft stores. I bought several and have tires/wheels in 1, parts in others. Can see thru lids, to know what is in each. Shoebox sized plastic boxes with lids also have many uses, for storage, I have several, containing baggies of complete engine assys.

Swamp Dog Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 your old trusty Wal-Marts in the hardware section..
crazyjim Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Rob - I've been using the plastic baby food containers. They have a lid and you can write on the side what's in the container. I have so mnaay thta I took some of that corregated plastic sign material and made a tray to hold them. Did the same thing for engines. I've purchased some of the containers off ebay since there's no kids around here.
Guest G Holding Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 (edited) Use a hanger....cut the bottom bar, make a "hook n loop" slide the tires on.....you can hang a lot together Used to use the kind from the laundry shirt service, with the cardboard tube Edited May 28, 2013 by G Holding
DrewCfromSC Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 I use those long wire trash bag wraps for keeping wheels, tires, backs togather as a set. Most the time you can simply feed the wire through the holes twist it up and put it away for another day. Drew C.
Jantrix Posted May 29, 2013 Author Posted May 29, 2013 I'm trying to keep wheels, tires, spinners, beauty rings, center caps etc, together as a set guys.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted May 29, 2013 Posted May 29, 2013 Well, after I part a kit, the wheels and tires are kept in small parts organizers, which you should be able to see here on my bench. The nice thing about this, there are right there in reach, I can see what I have at a glance. I try to keep the wheels organized as well,l stock, mag, race, and tires organized as well, slicks, white walls, etc etc...This really helps when I am test fitting ideas.
Guest G Holding Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 I'm trying to keep wheels, tires, spinners, beauty rings, center caps etc, together as a set guys. plano boxes. adjustable sections, I use a bunch of these, but are getting $$$ I used to pay 4.00 now about double that. Thats why I went to using the hangers for the rubber
Skydime Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I buy the clear plastic Plano fishing lure boxes at Wally World. Adjustable dividers inside allow for big 'ol 4x4 tires or smaller car tires. That's what I have. Work great!
AzTom Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I use the small baggies, found at Wall Mart in the jewelry section and label them with a marker. I than just store them in the plastic shoe type boxes. I also do that with engines, chrome parts and a lot of other parts. I think the smallest bag is about 1-1/2in x 3in??
1930fordpickup Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 I buy my baggies in the 100 pack for this. You can get different sizes at crafts 2000 here. Like Tom said just look in the jewelry / beading section. 3X4 is a good size for tires .
