Jantrix Posted June 14, 2013 Author Posted June 14, 2013 Gentlemen thank you for your time. I have found a set of round lamps that will look right at home on the side of the grill shell in the ol parts box. Roger, the roadster kit didn't come with the full size lights, and I don't want to steal the ones from the sedan kit.
knarf Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 them black wire wheels need some chrome center caps 2nd that
Jantrix Posted June 15, 2013 Author Posted June 15, 2013 (edited) Yep, I'm going to try some BMF on the center caps. Some paint and primer going on as well as some mesh for the grill. Edited June 15, 2013 by Jantrix
Jeremy Jon Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Looking great, that's going to look good once done!
Pat Minarick Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Looking good ! Thanks for the how-to on the grill ,I'm making one but I have nothing to put it on
Jantrix Posted June 16, 2013 Author Posted June 16, 2013 Thanks guys. Next up is to trim down the door panels a bit and get the interior to fit and the I can start assembly and throw some paint.
Jantrix Posted July 24, 2013 Author Posted July 24, 2013 I'll be back on this one this weekend. Work has finally eased up so I may have a weekend off. I have replaced the wheels/tires with the wide whites and steelies from the Revell '29 pick-up kit. More soon.
exesivefire Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Good choice on the new wheels and tires, I think those will work much better. Glad to see this one pop back up.
tabsscale1 Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Look like you have the look all coming together on this.
gonzo64nova Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Rob your Deuce looks killer, I really like it in the primer with the black frame. Add some pale yellow steelies with the wide whites and I think it would be a knockout. - Bill
Ace-Garageguy Posted July 25, 2013 Posted July 25, 2013 Looking good, Rob. Really REALLY like that nose.
Jantrix Posted August 13, 2013 Author Posted August 13, 2013 We have paint on the body! Gun metal grey metallic from Duplicolor. Pics tonight!
Jantrix Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 Okay we have paint. It's Duplicolor Medium Grey Metallic and is darker than normal as I sprayed it over Krylon brown primer. No blush thanks to my indoor paint booth, but it's nice and flat. I'll add some cool pin-stripe decals and hit it with some Duplicolor clear. The wheels will match the interior and are Krylon Burgundy. I'll likely add the beauty rings but no center cap. The grill will get some BMF on the center vertical bar and pin-striping decals. The mesh I have for the grill looks great in contrast to the dark grey. Guys, I'm still looking for an alternative to the kit headlights, so if you have any '36 ford, '37 Chevy, '39 Chevy units you're willing to trade away please send me a PM. More soon............................I hope.
Tom Geiger Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 Guys, I'm still looking for an alternative to the kit headlights, so if you have any '36 ford, '37 Chevy, '39 Chevy units you're willing to trade away please send me a PM. More soon............................I hope. Nice gray. I believe I have that Duplicolor in my arsenal. Rob, had you considered making headlights from pen caps? I'm going to do that on a project in the future. Or widen your search a bit. The headlights on the above '34 Ford came out of the Barris Ice Cream Truck kit. They just worked with this build and I doubt I'll see another rod with them!
Jantrix Posted August 14, 2013 Author Posted August 14, 2013 Tom, im more than willing to widen the field, but at least the ones I mentioned are a known quantity. I know the bezels will fit the bucket, the lenses will fit the bezel. Paint and glue, done. If anyone has other ideas I'm all ears.
Pat Minarick Posted August 14, 2013 Posted August 14, 2013 (edited) Great work Rob ! I have a 39 Chevy kit ,but I think I used those headlights on mine I was thinking of making a temp. gauge hood ornament for mine . I think that might look good. Your grill still looks cool ,I have to do that again someday Edited August 14, 2013 by Road Runner 79
Jantrix Posted August 15, 2013 Author Posted August 15, 2013 (edited) I have to do that again someday Agreed. I still have the other side of the fenders that I used. It's going to be really laid back. I'm not sure how I'm going to do it, but I'm leaning towards something like you did with vertical bars. Edited August 15, 2013 by Jantrix
kevjoh Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 AMT 34 headlights are worth considering, they're slightly larger than the 32's
Jantrix Posted August 15, 2013 Author Posted August 15, 2013 I'd really like the bullet shaped buckets. I love the way they look on a rod.
Pat Minarick Posted August 15, 2013 Posted August 15, 2013 Agreed. I still have the other side of the fenders that I used. It's going to be really laid back. I'm not sure how I'm going to do it, but I'm leaning towards something like you did with vertical bars. You could use straight pins for the bars . Ron Parks (from Parts from Parks) built a car with a scratch built tractor grill and seat back in the 80's .I wish I had a picture of it !!!!
