cobraman Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 If you are familure with this kit you know it is a multi piece body. I decided to try one again after many years. Still don't care for them. I did the best I could and think it turned out OK. Not totally happy with it but I never am. Instead of the 4 banger I installed a Ford 289 from the AMT Cobra kit. The fact that this engine seems a little undersize helped to make it fit in this car. I added a hood scoop from the Cobra kit as well as the headers and modified the exhaust to fit. I opened the rear wheel wells a bit to make room for tht larger tires. I also made a rear spoiler from a piece of sheet plastic. The body was painted Metallic Black and then Ultra High Gloss enamel clear. Comments both good and bad are always welcome. Thanks for looking.
PappyD340 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Very NICE Ray, talking about a real sleeper, can you imagine pulling up beside of that and getting your pants dusted!!! looks good!
george 53 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Welp, for bein a NOT that cool model, you built the heck outta it! NICE job!
sjordan2 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 This seems to come under the subject being discussed in the current thread, "Underrated Cars (kits)". Even a poor kit can be made into a showpiece with the right skill and attention.
TheRX7Project Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Cool build. Reminds me of my brother's Ford-swapped Spitfire.
Chris White Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 Cool is strange and strange is cool. But seriously that is cool. I would say it has something to do with your skills .
cobraman Posted June 13, 2013 Author Posted June 13, 2013 Thanks ! I think I will be regreting for a long time that I didn't try and fix that awful windshield.
realgone58 Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Very cool! I like the idea of the V-8 in there......looks good.
Porscheman Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Beautiful!!! Just like a Cobra, small sports car and a V8. The ultimate Pocket Rocket!!!!
Kris Morgan Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Very cool. That thing would be fun to drive for sure.
cobraman Posted June 14, 2013 Author Posted June 14, 2013 Thanks guys. I was hoping it would turn out better but these multi piece bodies and me just don't get along that well.
slusher Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Great looking build Ray, very nice choice on the engine swap. Very Very good work..
W-409 Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 Yeah the windshield is pretty odd. That is a highly visible mistake that kit Manufacturer should have corrected, I think. But you did fantastic job with this kit, the paint and detail is impressive. Stance is just perfect also and I like that wheel/Tire combo. Great work as always Ray.
Eshaver Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 I think you did a great job of it . I bought one a couple of years back. I've yet to build it though . I've built several "Multi-Piece kits and I dare say this will become much more than taking my time and sizing parts together , one at a time .
surfjunke Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Very cool ride! You did a very fine job on such a tough kit.
