Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 I've been a busy bee since the forum was down ... Up first is this Hasegawa Beetle... I wasn't sure how I wanted to build it, but decided I wanted a weathered one... Krylon jade paint. Wheels are from a die cast.
slusher Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Really cool build James. Very realistic weathering. Your weathered builds are so good.
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 12, 2013 Author Posted July 12, 2013 Chris- thanks... And yes they do rock! Carl- thanks bro... If it weren't for this forum, I would have never discovered how to do rusting with acrylics that Ryan S. posted a few years ago, and definitely if it weren't for Virgil sharing his work , I wouldn't have tried using salt ....
JordanFordF1 Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 My '67 wasn't a show bug but thank goodness it looked better than that. Great job. I wonder about the nice clean license plates though. Just registered?
slammedi'am Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Slick!!!!!!!!I one day will do a weathered something lol
Guest Posted July 12, 2013 Posted July 12, 2013 Very nice weathering, but the wheels are out of place being so shiny.
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 13, 2013 Author Posted July 13, 2013 Thanks guys... Shane, I can't wait to see you do one up... Lee, I'm sure they probably would look better rusted, but I wanted to leave them shiny.. I've seen some real cars with shiny wheels and rust on the body...
rmvw guy Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 My first Beetle was a light blue '67 and would probably look like that by now. I think I still see some lite blue paint on your's. Anyway, nice job!
Danny Lectro Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 That's awesome! You did an excellent weathering job.
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 13, 2013 Author Posted July 13, 2013 Thanks guys... Ron, I faded some light blue, dark blue and some dark red in with the ruddy brown primer...
mitchell Posted July 21, 2013 Posted July 21, 2013 great job. very natural looking with the weathering. Can't seem to find the tamiya beetle in my stores so maybe have to build the Hasegawa one, it looks good.
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted July 25, 2013 Author Posted July 25, 2013 Thanks alot... I usually find all my Veedub kits online
JasonFL Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Not sure how I missed this one but this thing is one killer beetle. I really love those rear rims being deep dish with no camber laid out on the ground. Another nice build James.
Scalper Posted August 5, 2013 Posted August 5, 2013 Very nice weathering. looks cool. I like the wheels too.
