jrherald420 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 This was started as a fathers day gift but we ended up moving out of state and it was put on hold. My dad owned a Road Runner at the same time as both of his Superbirds. Not sure on what color it was so i built this one to kinda mirror the Superbird build i have going. The paint color is GM Daytona Yellow. Body painted, cleared, buffed and the side markers hand painted along with engine bay. IMG_8691 by jrherald420, on Flickr Interior pic, ignition keys and seat belts really the only thing added inside along with Embossing powder acting as the carpet. Just noticed i didn't paint the shifter boot black. IMG_8689 by jrherald420, on Flickr Boring engine.....still have to add PCV from the valve covers. Jeremy Jon Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Looks good James! That engine wash works well! The interior could really pop with an "ever so subtle" wash - off white shade - in the upholstery seams
Tompidom Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 The yellow looks good. I like what you have done with the engine and interior so far.
PappyD340 Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 Looks good James! That engine wash works well! The interior could really pop with an "ever so subtle" wash - off white shade - in the upholstery seams Super NICE build James, my suggestion exactly, looks great so far!!
jrherald420 Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Thanks guys. I agree a wash would be helpful. I've still got to wash the door lines so ill work it in on the seats.
jrherald420 Posted August 2, 2013 Author Posted August 2, 2013 Just finished up the BMF on the window trim and decided to also BMF the door handles instead of painting them like i always used to do. Windows are also installed. IMG_8797 by jrherald420, on Flickr IMG_8798 by jrherald420, on Flickr
slusher Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 Body paint and foil looks excellent. Love the white interior also...
jrherald420 Posted August 3, 2013 Author Posted August 3, 2013 Thanks! I was trying to copy a factory car to a point.
JasonC Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Looking good!!! There's some small inaccuracys, but overall great model and very fine workmanship!
jrherald420 Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 Thanks. I don't think there is one model out that doesn't have some sort of inaccuracy to it. I just enjoy building them and sometimes putting on my own touches.
Geno Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Looks bada$$ to me, I can't wait to see the finished product. Way cool build.
Drewstang Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I swear I've seen this someplace else...... LOL
jrherald420 Posted August 4, 2013 Author Posted August 4, 2013 I swear I've seen this someplace else...... LOL Why hello good sir!! Welcome to the site!
charlie8575 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Nice job on everything, especially those side-markers. Charlie Larkin
jrherald420 Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Thanks! I made some more progress last night and married the interior tub to the body and the body to the chassis. Will post some pictures later.
jrherald420 Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Little progress. Hoping to have it wrapped up tonight. IMG_8891 by jrherald420, on Flickr IMG_8890 by jrherald420, on Flickr IMG_8889 by jrherald420, on Flickr IMG_8888 by jrherald420, on Flickr
jrherald420 Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Finished it today, i must say that i don't like it. My dad will love it, guess that's all that matters. This kit has a few fitment issues that bit me, i normally pre-fit everything before painting and didn't on this one. Turns out that the black hood stripe isn't a very solid black and when i put it on the hood you could almost see through it. I also have to add more wash to the body lines. Oh well, here's a few pictures. IMG_8915 by jrherald420, on Flickr
jrherald420 Posted August 8, 2013 Author Posted August 8, 2013 Thank you. I will be building this one again.
freakshow12 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I like it. I would have put the ralley wheels from the cuda kit on it I think. That's alot of yellow!
freakshow12 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I know you were. Problem with that kit is those wheels are the police car rims with caps which were not available on the 70 RR. steelies with those caps yes but the slotted police rims no. I still really like it.
