Porscheman Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 (edited) I was thinking, what would have happened if Steve McQueen didn't have the cash for that beautiful Mustang and this is what I came up with. This started out as a Maverick promo in mustard yellow, Primer, Dupli-color dark green met and wet look clear. A set of Torque Thrust wheels painted correctly and there you have it. This was completed in a dayHope you like it, let me know what you think.Al Edited August 6, 2013 by Porscheman
cobraman Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 A day ? You did all that in a day ? Looks very good.
Ramfins59 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 A great day's work Al. Although I'm sure Steve wouldn't have been able to chase the bad guys as well in a Maverick.
JunkPile Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 A great day's work Al. Although I'm sure Steve wouldn't have been able to chase the bad guys as well in a Maverick. Maybe if the bad guys were in a Gremlin
Porscheman Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 OK guys, the Bad Guys Car. I think there's a chance now. LOL
ChevyCoupe41 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Very Nice Maverick! Wheels fits perfectly to it. Paint job looks also very good. Nice Job As Always! Maybe the bad guys car could be Dodge Dart Sport with slant six engine.
Monty Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 I was thinking, what would have happened if Steve McQueen didn't have the cash for that beautiful Mustang and this is what I came up with. Al If this had happened, do you think they would've changed the name of the movie from Bullitt to Pellitt? Nice job on that Maverick!
Chris White Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Pretty bad that I can't even afford that. Awesome build though !!I guess that's why we build models
Porscheman Posted August 6, 2013 Author Posted August 6, 2013 Thanks guys. The next car in this series will be a Pinto and the bad guys will be on a Vespa.
Pete L. Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Looks like one of thos esleepers I was always warned about...well done !!!
1930fordpickup Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 The Maverick Grabber with a 302 and a three speed on the floor was fun.
realgone58 Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Sweet! Love Mavericks. Ever notice that the Jo-Han promos were all in the wrong colors? They were supposed to be metallic.
falcon wagon Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Nice Maverick, a freind back in school had a 302 4 speed Maverick that would out run most Mustang's we came up to, even my 66 Mustang.
slusher Posted August 6, 2013 Posted August 6, 2013 Very sharp Maverick Al. Very creative ldea. l am looking forward to the Pinto.
ToyLvr Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 We had a Maverick "Grabber" in the family back in the day. It moved out pretty well! 302V8 in a small car = fast. Really like your build, Al.
PappyD340 Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 In the words of my 3 yr old granddaughter, " are you serious" lol no seriously it looks great, I have a glue bomb just like it that I'm going to start one of these days, NICE build!!
Porscheman Posted August 7, 2013 Author Posted August 7, 2013 (edited) Thank you everybody. I got this mint Maverick at Macungie car show this weekend for $20.00. I also got a mint 72 Torino promo for $40., that's already been painted Candy Apple Red today, but that's another project. Now I have to find a Pinto for "Bullit MPG the Sequel". Lovefordgalaxie Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Don't tell the Mustang guys, but for me the Maverick looks twice as cool as the nicest Mustang. In fact, the Maverick is my favorite pony car.
A.R.C. Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I love Mavericks. My folks had a 302 powered 1970 model when I was a kid and Dad got on the throttle every chance he got. Nice work Al!
charlie8575 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Nice Maverick, a freind back in school had a 302 4 speed Maverick that would out run most Mustang's we came up to, even my 66 Mustang. I was thinking the same thing; with a 302, that would be a very peppy little car. Nice job on that, Al. Charlie Larkin
