cobraman Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 (edited) Next build will be a 25 Ford hot rod using the AMT double T kit. I will do some small modifications. First will be a change to the body. I am going to cut off the turtle deck and replace it with the short pick up bed. I also plan on swaping the V8 engine for the straight 6 from the 53 Corvette kit. Other changes may happen but it's too early to know for sure. Edited August 28, 2013 by cobraman
Dragfreak Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Looks like a good start what's the color plan?
cobraman Posted August 19, 2013 Author Posted August 19, 2013 Plan ? Really don't have one. I usually get off track anyway. I will be winging this one.
b_lever1 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 That should be an awsome rod there Ray I built one years ago candy green
cobraman Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 Carl, did you change your avatar again ? : )
LokisTyro Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 I thought this was a neat little kit. And from the little time that I've been on the forum I know what you will do to it will be fun, imaginative and *riggin' awesome. Are you taking color suggestions?
crazyrichard Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 i always wing it myself and gggrrrmmmmbbll i still want to buy that kit some day myself !! have not found one yet over here .. sometimes they pop up here and there but not when i'm looking lots of possibility's with this kit
slusher Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Carl, did you change your avatar again ? : ) Yes, l did. lt may be throwing everyone off..
PappyD340 Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Very NICE Ray, waiting to see you work your magic again!!
cobraman Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 Thanks Guys. Have not decided on a color yet but was thinking perhaps white with a red interior and red wheels. Not sure however. I was also considering a primer look but I don't think so.
Ace-Garageguy Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 This is a great kit with lotsa potential, and your pickup bed and Blue Flame 6 mods are imaginative and unusual twists on it. Looking forward to seeing it come together.
Tom Geiger Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Ha! I had planned on doing that when the kit came back out about 3 years ago. I got as far as sawing the back off the cab!
cobraman Posted August 20, 2013 Author Posted August 20, 2013 Ok Tom. I got a little farther than you. Cut the turtle deck off and attached the short bed. Made a cover for the bed and also cut the roof out. Have the body and some other parts in primer. Is it just me or does this body seem a bit under scale. I have another one I built a while ago and I felt the same thing when I built that one.
slusher Posted August 20, 2013 Posted August 20, 2013 Ray thats what pop in my head when l looked at the kit opened...
cobraman Posted August 26, 2013 Author Posted August 26, 2013 Been busy with other things but did manage to get some done on this build. Still lots to do.
Ramfins59 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Ray, that's looking pretty good so far. Keep up the good work.
slusher Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Love those white walls and red wheels. Your moving along. l really like what you have done so far...
Bill Edman Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 a little done yay right lookin good Ray love the color combo
cobraman Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 Getting closer to wrapping this one up. I had to modify the chassis to get the Corvette straight 6 in. Should finish it up by or on the weekend.
Jantrix Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I like it! Sanding the tread of the slicks is my only suggestion. I like seeing the inliner in there.
cobraman Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 Thanks. I have to go look. I thought I sanded the slicks.
slusher Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 Nice progress Ray, looking forward to seeing you finish it. l Just finished painting a nova copo...
