Albie D Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Good luck with this! Something to be said of this baroque style of customizing. Looking forward to the rest.
slusher Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 It looks really good but is it a 58 chevy front clip?
rustbucket82 Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 It looks really good but is it a 58 chevy front clip? that is the amt 49/50 ford custom front end.
Mooneyzs Posted August 27, 2013 Posted August 27, 2013 Michael... I really like the direction you are going with the front end. I think it looks great. this will be a nice build.
Gothic Kustomz Posted August 27, 2013 Author Posted August 27, 2013 Whew, here we are going a lil ol'scool, I'm now shaping, and forming, OH! but not like you think, no this is not a new form of putty, this is all plastic, and a lil bit of pro wield no, kinda neat huh? : As you can see, really rough stuff: But here you can see it starting to take a lil shape: After just a lil work: And yes sir, the front clip is offa the '49 Ford convert, one of the kustom option's.
Gothic Kustomz Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 OK, remember the other day of those shots I took of the stuff looking like brick morter, lol, well here is a shot of it with a lil work, I will take a few more before primer, but this is what makes building kustomz, the best, not only do ya get to to do kewl work, but you get to see it come to shape:
Gothic Kustomz Posted September 2, 2013 Author Posted September 2, 2013 Getting ready, with a lil prep work, for the new Kustom tail light's.
Gothic Kustomz Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 The start of a Carson style roof, maybe?
b_lever1 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 (edited) Looking at this custom makes me want to build some. You are hitting this right out there and over the top Edited September 4, 2013 by b_lever1
Bastardo Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Nice start and great work so far! About that rear window: Just use the model's own back window - it already has the shape you need Cut the hole, glue it to the body and putty/sand it down to eliminate any seams
Modlbldr Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Nice work so far. That rear window is going to have s nice look. Keep it up. Later-
Gothic Kustomz Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Looks as if it worked just perfect, to me, now on to the sides, lose the drip rail, finish the kustom tail lights, and find something to cover the top.
Gothic Kustomz Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 OK, the pass, side roughed in, now on to the driver side, need to do something with the upper right pass door corner, might just round it out:
hjracing Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 As every one of your builds, this one come very nicely, keep it coming!
Gothic Kustomz Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 Still plenty to go, but just had to take a peek:
Gothic Kustomz Posted September 11, 2013 Author Posted September 11, 2013 (edited) Just a few minor things, like the new tailights, and the front fender well's, glad I been doing this kinda stuff for over 30 years, I would say this is a wrap for the top. all the trim work will be chrome, or black, we'll see, but here ya go guys, thanx for hangin with me on this build, your feedback, is awesome: Edited September 11, 2013 by Gothic Kustomz
freakshow12 Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 That's sweet! Are you going to pad that top? I think it needs something because that's a lot of blank real estate with all the windows gone
Gothic Kustomz Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 That's sweet! Are you going to pad that top? I think it needs something because that's a lot of blank real estate with all the windows gone Yea, the Carson top was the early version of the soft top, nah, not the vert, but a kustom metal base soft top, and I do believe his were the first, I think in the late '50s, and are still used today on kustomz, ya can google it under Carson top's, theres a world of info and pic's. I just gotta find the right padding, I have stuff, but kinda don't look right in scale, but I will find something.
Jantrix Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 I don't think it's necessary to use a fabric on the top. Even a carson top has an edge or lip. So I would use some half round stock to create the lip. Across the back, forward to the doors and then up and around the top of the doors to eventually blend into the corner of the windshield. Then paint the top area with Krylons Make it Suede. It's a paint I have used on interiors, that has a texture. It is fine enough to use in scale and you can paint over it if you want the top a different color. OR, you could get a more textured paint surface by just holding the sprayer further away from the model.
