cruz Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Built basically out of box. Used the tires from the AMT tires pack for the white walls, wasn't too crazy with the ones in the kit. Bumpers were Alcladed. Paint is Valspar Rally Red w/ Testor's Wet Look clear. Used Model Car Garage P/E detail set. This model was featured in last month's issue but wanted to share it here just in case you didn't get the mag. I still lowerd the stance just a bit to get a more correct look. I might just be building the newly released Revell Gasser kit and display it in conjunction with this one, I think they would look cool together!! Davewilly Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Very nice! and the Gasser next to it would be very cool!
TooOld Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 It's still the nicest one I've ever seen , great to see it again !
Porscheman Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Beautiful build!!! Love the paint and the red rim with the wheel covers.
IMPALASS89 Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Very nice nice color also I like the all red color on the car nice to see the gasser by it's side too!!!!
rmvw guy Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Nice job once again Marcos as usual. I agree with TooOld, nicest one I've ever seen! The engine detail is wonderful, the wash you used on it is perfect. I just purchased this kit Monday and now I have perfect reference material, thanks. Is the ride height factory stock like I believe it is? Just curious after the comment from berr13. Mine will go white with red interior to be different. Hope it turns out half as nice as yours.
High octane Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 That 'Vette is a real beauty Marco, just an excellent job!
drodg Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Great job, needless to say. What is it with the newer kit releases and trying to get a good stance. I kinda miss the metal solid axles on the cars from the 60's! LOL!
cruz Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 I believe I had to alter the stance just a tad but it was because of the tires I used. The model looked way too high with the kit tires, which is the one on the right in this picture but even after going with the one on the left, I felt it was still a bit too high. Hosted on Fotki These were the tires I used.... Hosted on Fotki
cruz Posted August 28, 2013 Author Posted August 28, 2013 For the ride height, I went with this picture...... Hosted on Fotki
Kennyboy Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Marcos, just like everyone else said, This is just beautiful! I am currently working on the RS custom version of this......it was nice to see a beautiful stock version.
crazyjim Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 I'm lost for words, Marcos, so I'll just say SHINY :) RULES!
Burnout Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Beautiful work Cruzer. I really like the engine detailing and you seem to have the Testor's Wet Look figured out. The paint job is gorgeous. Do you have to polish the Wet Look clear as you normally would with other types of paint?
Harry P. Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 Anyone who sees this thread and thinks that making their panel lines black is "realistic" needs to pay attention here. Look carefully at Marcos' model. See how realistic the panel lines are? See how they are NOT black? Marcos deepens the panel lines on the bare body and applies black to the deepened lines. Then he paints the body the usual way. Once the paint is on the body, it subdues the stark black of the panel lines and makes them look very real. Adding black panel lines after you paint the model is wrong, and not realistic at all. It winds up looking very "modelish." Panel lines on cars are not black (except on black cars, obviously)! They are simply body color a few shades darker, and Marcos' model is proof.
Ron Hamilton Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 You can park that one next to a glue-bomb and it will still be stunning.
dino246gt Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 So THAT's what that kit is supposed to look like, WOW! Marcos, you did it to the max, love it! Outstanding workmanship.................as you always do!!!
