Apparently the local NWS guys left after the "purge" have decided to slow-work or "quiet quit" or whatever, as our once-hourly time-temp-baro-humidity-forecast updates are now every 2 or 3 hours or whenever they get around to it.

Thankfully the radar still works, so I can see for myself if there's any precip in the vicinity or fronts moving in...

My ISP is one of the most universally hated on the planet, and it's been on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/ all dangetydanged morning...naturally when I have to send a mass of photos for a billing cycle.

Naturally.

I pay for lots of bandwidth and a fast wired connection because when I need it I NEED IT (and it's the only hardwired connection available at this address).

So what go I get when I NEED it?   saergsdfbdfbdhx vbxfhhdvbbghhfjjgyffdgf................nada

Fcrew it. I'm going for a hike. Maybe they'll get a chimp up in the tree to clear that bunch of bananas that must be shorting the cable.

I've been setting up the displays for our classic show and this year out indoor display is the end of ww2. Every single organisation that said they would attend has pulled out today. We had signs specially made and spent a decent chunk of money getting it looking nice inside the cattle mart for them. Luckily i know folk with stuff to fill the spaces but thats not the point. we kept them informed about it all year and confirmed them all on monday and they were happy then. I'm going to stop before i cuss them out and ban myself.

Remodel a house in the country and move they said. You’ll love it out there and the quiet will be good for your PTSD they said.

This is Copperhead #2 this week, but not in our carport this time. We were clearing out some brush near the barn in preparation to rebuild it. Out comes this guy right towards my beautiful wife and sister in law. Pinned him down with the backhoe and lopped of his head with the shovel. What “irks me” is that I really do hate killing one of God’s creatures, but I can’t knowingly have venomous snakes where me grandchildren play. If my law enforcement career taught me anything, it is that life is so very precious.

Kinda getting old, but I do love it out here. Going to have to seal up the new barn really well.IMG_2706.jpeg.ac16ab42615360fbc1ec46abd1bc5a79.jpeg

I hate that you're having snake problems! I've always heard that mothballs will drive them away.......... Depending on where you are located, you might have King Snakes around. They eat the lesser snakes, along with rats and such.....

I think that we’re going to do the mothball thing around the perimeter of the house and barn. Thanks

The few times that I’ve had to keep my bass boat outside (covered) during the winter I’ve put mothball on paper plates in a few places. Left the compartment lids open too. No mice, no bugs……nothing. Boat stunk for a day or so but that’s a small price to pay. No reason for it not to work for snakes too.

Rock to the windshield. Insurance was the easy part. Glass shop on the other hand was even worse customer service than the last three times. And my pest management company's service has really taken a bad turn since the company was bought by a big name company.

At least I spent the afternoon walking hand in hand with my beautiful lady!

Got my 1962 Oritone transistor radio back from my dad’s friend who fixes stuff like that. And unfortunately he couldn’t fix it, and if he says he can’t fix it then it’s done because he knows his stuff. A shame because I liked the radio. I guess a plus is now I gotta find a new one but it’s just disappointing that it was working perfectly for a month and that was it.

That is true; and I've seen vintage radios for sale that have been converted to a "blue tooth" stereo system, where they just gut the radio's ancient internals and put a whole new system in and it connects to your phone and whatnot, but I'm not a huge fan of that idea but I'm not 100% ruling it out as an option. For now though it'll be in my desk drawer. May or may not bring it to a car show to show my friend who also likes vintage stuff.

While the US 127/US 30 Garage sales start tomorrow , some were already open.( Van Wert Fair Grounds)  Quite a few had Model kit's , But either they wanted full retail or even more for them!  AMT Rat Fink Trailer kit $75.00 (bought from Ollie's for $20! Several recent issued kit's $35.00, and they were opened. One had models and Die cast that try's to charge a $2.00 "fee to pick one up to check it, And he also wants full retail for his kit's! The guy is there every year with the same things! I thought the reason for a garage sale was to sale things at a decent price, Not FULL BLOWN RETAIL Or Above!

I know several Model Kit "Grifters".

"Buy Low & Sell High" is their motto.

They feel no shame and will rip off anybody.

They will outright lie about Condition, Rarity, or Value, without turning a hair.

Sounds like this Joker is one of those kind.

There at least was one seller in the Jr.Fair building with decent prices. I did manage to get a couple from him, (Revell HRM '57 Nomad & Moebius '71 Ford Ranger) Paid $35 for both together Nomad $15, Ford Ranger $20

I know a guy that goes to the swap meet at a goodguys event with diecast and model kits (brand new and open) that charges full price. Can't even haggle with the guy, he just gets mad and takes the kit away. At that point I just walked away.

I went through this with my pug last November, my prayers go out to you.

I hope your resolution is better than mine was.

When the neutral cable between the transformer on the power pole and the meter finally parted completely earlier today, it blew my Dremel, my stereo amp, one power strip, several lighting timers, and almost started a fire.

I won't know if my desktop computer, big monitor, and landline base-unit survived until I get a new power strip.

Guess I ought to be happy, because if I hadn't been here waiting for the ISP tech (a whole "nother" story), I might very well have come home to a smoking ruin.

Yes, I'm very thankful, but so far I'm out hundreds of bucks, and we're not done yet...and the house still stinks of burned electrics.

EDIT: Once again, I have to praise the professionalism of my electricity provider. They were here within 1/2 hour of my call, and had me back up in another 1/2 hour.
