High octane Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Driving home tonight a guy in front of me is waiting to make a right hand turn, and wouldn't make a right on red 'cause he had to go across three lanes. Sooooo I had to WAIT for this clown to make his turn, of course I did use my jand held "air horn" in case he was sleeping. Guess I'll be havin' and air horn installed on my new truck whenever I get it.
detailstymied Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 i enjoy people who are behind me and honk. that's when the Really Slow Parade begins.
Pete J. Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Actually am a firm believer that there is an etiquette to horn honking. Lights turned green and the driver is digging for something in the back seat. One very light "toot" . You turned in front of me and I had to adjust my speed to accommodate you. Slightly longer "Honk". You waited until the last minute and were in the outside lane and needed to go right, "double honk". It's rush hour and you can't plan ahead any further than your hood ornament and you force your way into my lane lane where there is no space and the line is already backed up. Lay on the horn for a good long time!
Guest Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 i enjoy people who are behind me and honk. that's when the Really Slow Parade begins.I do that when they are in a hurry and 6 inches off my bumper. I can be in the slow lane, and they tailgate. Then I slow down even more.
disabled modeler Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 That happens here all the time...Me I have emergency lights on the roof of my truck...I just turn them on and they back off.

Pete J. Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 The opposite of your issue with the big truck is my MR2. I have Maserati air horns on it, because the drivers of big, jacked up trucks don't see me, even though I try to not sit in a blind spot. They just start coming over. Worst are the big SUV's. A quick blast of the air horns gets their attention. By the way they are also great for scaring the heck out of cats that wander too close to the front of the car. Ever see a cat walk on water. ;-0
disabled modeler Posted August 29, 2015 Posted August 29, 2015 Mine needs an air horn that will rattle the windows in a car near me...amazing how they cant see a huge pickup...with emergency lights on the roof?

Tom Geiger Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 (edited) Went to the Counting Crows concert last evening. Once I got past the indignity of being frisked upon entry and walking past the $15 beers,we found our seats and settled in to wait for the concert to start. About 5 minutes before it starts, a couple sits in the seats right in front of us. My wife notes that the young guy is tall and she can't see, so we switch seats. End of problem? No. Concert starts and these two STAND UP. A lot of people stood up as the band started, so we sat there. After the third song and nobody else in the place is standing, I tap idiot on the shoulder and ask him nicely to sit down, they're blocking the view of the many rows of people behind him. He tells me to "F off". Now he's in his twenties with a little blonde on his shoulder and I'm 56 years old, no doubt his parents age. So I grab the little jerk by the shoulder and tell him to SIT DOWN NOW or he will be very embarrassed in front of the little girl. He looks at the old crazy guy, gulps and sits down. Concert already ruined since I've already left my confrontation comfort zone and my blood pressure is up. My wife is flipping out. Little jerk doesn't move for the remainder of the concert.Looking across the aisle there's some little twit girl who has stood up and is dancing. She does this the entire concert totally blocking the view of those behind her, and the guy she's with just sat in his seat. Nobody on that side said anything so she did what she wanted, oblivious to how she affected everyone else who had paid to enjoy the event. How do these people exist? Just thinking about themselves and not the slightest courtesy to the people around them? Edited August 31, 2015 by Tom Geiger
High octane Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Yep Tom, a LOT of people now days have that "Hurray for me FY" attitude not only at concerts but on the road also.

Ace-Garageguy Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 ...get the model i want... standing in line with it (ONE person ahead of me) & the flippin' power goes out. sorry folks, no more sales-WHAT???cant use debit, no power she says, i'll pay cash, cant, till wont open, HAS to be scanned....KEEP THE CHANGE & SCAN ANOTHER ONE WHEN THE POWER COMES ON, boss will get mad---jeez, i had it in my hand, this close<> now i haft to spend more time, gas, another trip.....Another one of those warning signs about the folly of over-reliance on technology. Sure, it's great when it works. And when it doesn't, if there's no backup plan in place, everything stops. But hey...most everyone seems to live in a la-la-land where computers never crash, all data is secure, the power never fails, ad nauseam. Many systems this society increasingly depends on are horribly vulnerable to a lot of things besides weather.Might be time to take a little time-out for a reality check.
Harry P. Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Might be time to take a little time-out for a reality check. Is there an app for that?
uncle potts Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 mother nature got me...(and computers...)no hobby shop in our town, so it's a 50 mile round trip that i can only make on the weekend (my work & their lousy opening hrs)get out there, & there's a MASSIVE wind storm hitting them. 3/4's of the traffic lights are out, branches flying everywhere, accidents at every second intersection. make it to the model store, get the model i want (rescue blazer for a suburban project) standing in line with it (ONE person ahead of me) & the flippin' power goes out. sorry folks, no more sales-WHAT???cant use debit, no power she says, i'll pay cash, cant, till wont open, HAS to be scanned....KEEP THE CHANGE & SCAN ANOTHER ONE WHEN THE POWER COMES ON, boss will get mad---jeez, i had it in my hand, this close<> now i haft to spend more time, gas, another trip.....Time to shop online.....?
Harry P. Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Time to shop online.....? No kidding! You drive 50 miles to buy a kit? And you come away empty-handed, and you're willing to make the trip again? Dude. Seriously. There's this new thing these days called the internet. Go to ebay, buy the dang kit, and have it shipped to your door. Use the money you saved on gas by not driving 50 miles to the hobby shop and back for a nice six-pack of craft beer or a pizza. You're welcome...
Guest Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Harry, some of us actually prefer the experience of going to a store, looking at the goodies BEFORE you buy, and interacting with people there. Nothing wrong with that. I will always prefer it to online shopping. Not to mention I have NO faith in any of our postal options. When I go to the store, I am guaranteed delivery.
crazyjim Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 I bought a new computer with Windows 10 and can't figure the darn thing out.
Harry P. Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 When I go to the store, I am guaranteed delivery.Uh, did you read the post about where he went to the store and came away empty?

Wouldnt want to be anywhere near them a the event of a major disaster.
bobthehobbyguy Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Uh, did you read the post about where he went to the store and came away empty?Yeah but what happened to him is right up there with the package being lost in transit. Not the same as the store not having or somebody in front of you grabbing the last one. And yeah youare probably payihg for shipping instead of gas.
disabled modeler Posted August 31, 2015 Posted August 31, 2015 Tom...That is the problem with many people these days....its all about them as if no one else is on the planet and no manners at all. Respect for others is almost gone these days.
