Nice to see some modified late model Mustangs at shows...shows that are all old vehicles get boring. There is a lot more to the car hobby than just hot rods and customs..

Went to Home Depot today for a Moan shower control cartridge. Nobody at the register and was forced to use the self checkout ones. As always, had a problem plus had to go through 5 screens to complete transaction. Maybe due to my age I am just "old school " but me and those things just do not get along. : )

I usually avoid that place like the plague because I find the employees to be clueless, but it was on my way home and I needed something.

So I'm looking at the shelves where the stuff I wanted would be, when an employee walks up and asks if she can "help" me find something. So I figure ok, why not... and I tell her what I need.

She says to me, let me ask someone if we have that.

Um... as a store employee, isn't she supposed to know that without "asking someone?"

So she asks another employee if they have what I want, and the second employee answers, "it would be here on these shelves." (where I was already looking in the first place before I was "helped").

Thank you for all that valuable "help."

I hear what your coming from about the person not knowing where the products was,but it really depends on what it is your looking for. She might know where water hoses are but not know where right angle inverse couplings are because they are a weird product..

That reminds me. While on vacation in Florida I ran into a store called "Lefties". They sold the aforementioned hammer along with all sorts of of other left handed items, it was a funny little shop.

Exactly. I realize an employee at Home Depot can't know everything about everything. But they should know the store layout and what aisle to send a customer to–not say "Let me ask someone who knows."

You're a store employee. YOU are supposed to know!

This didn't irk me today. It irked me when I was a kid in grade school and we had those chairs with the "desk" type of tray surface thingie attached to them. They were all for right-handed people. Try writing on a desk like that when you're left-handed.

Hey...it's probably not too late to start a class-action suit against every school and manufacturer that standardized those chairs. I'm left handed too, and the childhood stress they caused is still affecting me with recurring PTSD. I smell $$$$. ;)

By the time I got to school, there were 1 or 2 left handed ones in each class room, still not always enough.

I recall my father not only talking about schools "correcting" left handed student. BUT, they also tried to correct my Dad's name. It is Tommy on his birth certificate, not Thomas. They required him to write Thomas, right handed.

I know the feeling. I went in a couple of days ago for a chalk box. No checkers and the self checkout, which I hate, were all busy with people waiting. I put it back and walked out-was so not in the mood.

Until 1986 or so Troopers of the Missouri State Highway Patrol wore their sidearm on the right and shot right handed regardless. The quest for "uniformity" knew no limits. All were required to wear long sleeve shirts and neckties year round. This also included the cross strap of the standard Sam Browne gunbelt.

I attended several classes at the HP academy in the early 80s as a motorcycle jock. Those guys scared me. Rumor was that while in their academy troopers had their sweatglands and sense of humor surgically removed.

I have never doubted that.

As a licensed electrician I am always amused by the people who ask for wiring help from the 18 year old kid at the depot or lowes. And by amused I mean scared. If you have to ask some of these questions you should probably leave the job to someone qualified so your home doesn't end up a charred pile of rubble.
