Just finished the Profil24 Kit. The kit needed a lot of work. A major problem I ran into was that the casters made the center line of the car off by over 1mm to one side. I also had problems with the decals not wanting to stick to the model, but that was solved by several coats of clear. There were other problems but they're too numerous to mention. But I had fun building it. The blue is TS-54 and the silver is a mix of TS-75 (60%) and TS-11 (40%). The silver has a slight gold tinge which it is supposed to have according to all the reference photos/video that I have seen. Not recommending kits is unusual for me, but I'd make an exception for this one. Feel free to make comments.

Despite all the problems, you managed to get a beautiful build out of it. That's a very sharp looking ride.

Thanks,

Wow, you did a helluva job with that one! I'd say you made a silk purse out of a sow's ear. :P All I can say is you race guys really are hardcore to put up with all the decals and multiple colors on many cars. I'm not sure when I'll be ready to tackle one of these things. They almost seem out of my league. ;)

Thanks for all the comments!

Bob, if you do pick up this kit, send me a message and I'll let you know about the problem areas that would be nice to know about before starting the build. As for the car you saw at Rennsport, it is probably the sister car to this one. There were only two of these cars made and I know the one my model is off of is in London right now. Was the car you saw the long tailed or short tailed version? The gentleman just restored the Le Mans car back to the original long tailed version. This is the car that started the trend of doing open cockpit cars again.

I didn't get any pics as it was in the garage and not easily photographed, but I found one photo on pelicanparts.com of the car at Rennsport last weekend, and it's the same car you built.

Fantastic work. Even with all the pit-falls you mention I have a hard time believing you ran into all the problems. It looks that great.

Excellent results!!! I build tons of 43rd scale cars for customers, and that is one beautiful 1/24 K8!!! I have several of the 24th kits to do, and hope they look that good!!!

Hey Brendan, You did a clean and perfect job on this Porsche Racing car. I know how much you had suffer, since my last model was a Profil 24 1/43 962C, and it was a lot of fit trying and even, I had to contact them to receive the correct parts. Man, if they only put a little moRe effort and correct some of their molds!

Your it's in pristine shape!

Love hearing the comments.

Simon,

Were the problems visible right off the bat on the 962C that you did? The problems I had weren't visible until after painting and laying down the decals. They are just little problems that could have been easily fixed. But I really like Profil24. I think their kits are excellent. It's just the past couple of kits have not been up to my expectations. I'll probably keep on buying from them because they do subjects that I like.

Brendan:

The main issued I had was the casting of this tiny parts. Some of them where full of bubbles and out of shape, but, like you said, after you have it built, it looks real nice. I contacted them a couple of times and send me almost the kit again! ;) Also, I have to second you tellind that they have in their catalog some stuff that can't be find in other places.

Simon,

I had the same problems with the bubbles on the smaller parts, especially the gear lever. Luckily I had another gear level that looked better so I used that. Thanks for letting me know.
