Jeepgirl Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 What I think I do: Head of Security Operations for an international outdoor apparel company. What my bosses think I do: Push papers around, and apologize a lot when things don't go according to plan. What my employees think I do: Tell them what to do all the time. What I really do: Look at model car stuff all day on the internet.
Harry P. Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 What I really do: Look at model car stuff all day on the internet. You better hope your boss doesn't do that, too.
Kaleb Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 I own my own hvac business, looking to get into a metal shop, building parts for jeeps and trucks. For the rock climbers. And just about anything metal. Such as headache bars, roll bars etc.
Pro Wrench Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Well, got laid off Monday so now I'm a full time job hunter but my profession is ASE Certified Master Auto Technician. When I'm not doing that I'm also a Safety Specialist and Consultant for the construction and oil and gas drilling industries. In the past I also owned a custom snowmobile performance, developement, and fabrication business.

Danno Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Is there a lot of Arson Theft these days? LOL. Yep. Arson, auto theft, theft, auto arson, arson theft, and auto arson theft. Common thread: fraud. Any way you split it, it keeps me fairly busy.

And just about anything metal. Such as headache bars, roll bars etc. The "Jeep" crowd is flooded with aftermarket suppliers, custom parts and restorations .. you either have to be the absolute best there is, or have an idea that nobody has ever thought of to survive in that business ..
Danno Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Early in my career, people would ask, "What do you do?" I would answer, "I do arsons." It didn't take long to figure out I had to provide a little more information than that. But, I did make a couple of 'solicitation to commit arson' busts that way!

I am so happy I chose not to go into any form of law enforcement after my time in the Corps, just for reasons like that ...
Rob Hall Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 (edited) The best description I've used before is to say I live in a real-life Dilbert cartoon (the corporate cubicle software development world). Though I'm presently a free-range developer (no cube--I work for a consulting company and have an open-plan office, but often work at client sites throughout the Phoenix metro area). Skydime Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 (edited) I have two, full time, work at home, customer service jobs. Both are inbound support for telecommunications customers. With a wife and child that still doesn't leave much hobby money. Edited October 31, 2013 by Skydime

We know several people that own jeeps. One is for sure a rock climber and he told us that those guys are always looking for someone to build parts. Mainly radiator gaurds because they keep bending them. As it is in any business it's a gamble. There is well around a 100 hvac companies within a 45 miles radius here. Scale-Master Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 Arson, auto theft, theft, auto arson, arson theft, and auto arson theft. Reads like a line about shrimp from Forrest Gump...
