Ace-Garageguy Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) Greg, that's the Jazzy Nelson semi-resto, semi-re-creation "Outlaw". Here's another flathead twin. Edited November 11, 2013 by Ace-Garageguy
Greg Myers Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 Wow! That's a looker Bill. Thanks for joining the fun Glenn.
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) Glenn, the twin Ford DOHC Indy-engine dragster is credited to Jim Busby. Edited November 11, 2013 by Ace-Garageguy
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) Greg, I've never seen that oldie before, but it looks to be the 1:1 prototype for one of the possible build options in the old AMT double-dragster kit with the Potvin-style blower drives and the dropped-center frame. Aha...it's the Dragmaster "Two-Thing". Edited November 11, 2013 by Ace-Garageguy
DrKerry Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 why does it look like the front motor isn't running? It's running at idle, both injectors are open just a tad, maybe backing up after burn out?!
Scale-Master Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Maybe the front engine is not running, but the linkages for both engines throttles would still work on both engines. Just speculating.
johnbuzzed Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I gotta say this would be an interesting build, whether it's real or photoshopped.
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 I gotta say this would be an interesting build, whether it's real or photoshopped. It's (was) a real car. Here's another shot of it nekkid... And one with the body on...
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 That can't be real. No way to steer !!! Good pic though haha It most likely would have steered the same way Tommy Ivo's Showboat did...the forward axles, universals and hubs were heavy-duty 4WD, front-axle components. It was a REAL car.
Greg Myers Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) and the most famous one (two) of all WOW! Look, two of everything. Edited November 12, 2013 by Greg Myers
Brett Barrow Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 It ain't a dragster, but I always thought this was pretty wild....
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 11, 2013 Posted November 11, 2013 Yeah, the Hairy Olds is probably the most instantly recognizable and familiar of all the multi-engined cars...even to generations of guys who never saw any of them run.
Greg Myers Posted November 11, 2013 Author Posted November 11, 2013 (edited) and it's got TWO motors ! a real Twofer. Edited November 11, 2013 by Greg Myers
DonW Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Not a dragster either, this one was supposed to go round corners too! Built to compete with the Silver Arrows Mercedes and Auto Union GP cars in 1935, even Nuvolari couldn't make it work. 2 supercharged twin overhead cam straight eights, both driving the rear wheels via a central diff and 2 propshafts. 540 bhp. One did record a flying 1/4 mile at 208mph but altogether two wasn't better than one this time!
Jantrix Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 why does it look like the front motor isn't running? It doesn't kick in until 88 mph.
Brett Barrow Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 why does it look like the front motor isn't running? It doesn't kick in until 88 mph. Or the driver hadn't pressed the Mad Max "engage supercharger" button...
