Porscheman Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 (edited) I got this one off ebay. It was stripped of the Gold undercoat with Testors Metallic Red top coat. 24 hours in Purple Power and it was back to the original white plastic. It is painted Testors Wimbleton White Lacquer with 3 coats of Wet Look clear. The interior was done in red and white. The previous owner shaved all the emblems though. All an all, I'm pretty happy with it. Oh ya! That's a 60 Mercury convertible that's just came out of the stripper and waiting for the Modelhaus's Chrome. Thanks for looking. slusher Posted November 12, 2013 Posted November 12, 2013 Sweet rebuild Al, and l love Wimbleton White. Nice save of 2 classics...
realgone58 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Looks great Al! I've always loved the rear ends on '60 Mercs. Almost bought a 1:1 years ago, but I was young and didn't have the dough! It was like your model, white with red interior.
Harry P. Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Beautiful! You are definitely the "Gluebomb King!"
satterwhite78 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Ya did good! Good to see a classic done right!
Porscheman Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 Thanks guys. I searched for a long time for a hard top. Then a week later I won the convertible too. I didn't appreciate these as a kid, now I get a second chance to build them the way they should be done. BTW, the conv. will be done in a light powder blue. Al
Ramfins59 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 That's a sweet looking Merc Al. Great job.
Porscheman Posted November 13, 2013 Author Posted November 13, 2013 Thanks Rich. Like your 50's, I love my 60's especially the early Mercs. Al
Speedfreak Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 What a great subject and rebuild. Not a car often seen, 1:1, or , in scale.
charlie8575 Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 I think those are nice-looking, pleasantly-styled cars. Too bad they're not seen more frequently in any size. Nice job, Al. Charlie Larkin
mangodart Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Nice model, and nice bild, I have a convertible waiting for some TLC
