mangodart Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Hi guys, for this new build, I choose a 71 Mustang, one of my favorite model, especially in fastback, it looks aggressive even parked !!! And in the "Diamonds are Forever" movie from 71, it looks really nice in red without the black hood !!! So I started with an old glue bomb : a real AMT kit from 71 without engine. I decide to detail it a bit, with some parts from a Revell Shelby GT and from an AMT "Macho Mustang" I choose to use some clear lenses insteed of the clear ones, and to add some tires from Modelhaus. Hope you'll enjoy it !!!
mangodart Posted November 27, 2013 Author Posted November 27, 2013 Some more pics : The paint is from a spray can, and has not been clear coated, just polished to a nice shine.
cobraman Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Looks nice. I really like the "big" Mustangs.
João Canas Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Superb build of the last proper Mustang! Love the wheels and white wal tires. It gives a very realistic period feel to the model.
disabled modeler Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I like it a lot!...been planing on trying to build a few Bond movie cars, etc. myself...I have a few of the scale correct toys that were out back then like the underwater scuba rides from the movie Thunderball.
Peter Lombardo Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Looks great.....not my favorite Mustang, but you sure did a nice job in recreating the proper look of that car for that time period....the wheels and tires really set it off well. Nice build.
slusher Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Very sharp build. Great color and nice touch on the wheels...
crazyjim Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Very nice. I'm sure Bond, James Bond would appreciate the SHINY :)
mangodart Posted November 27, 2013 Author Posted November 27, 2013 Thanks for your comments, why nobody ( Revell or AMT ) did a detailed kit of this Mustang, I would like to....
kelson Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 Goodlooking replica!,there was a movie in 1972 called 'The Mechanic' and I swear that movie uses the same mustang that was in the james bond movie.
PappyD340 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Very NICE Mustang Emmanuel, looks great!!
realgone58 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Looks awesome! I love the wheels and tires on it too.
Ron Hamilton Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I love those cars. I plan to do the same car for our club's theme. I have both the AMT and MPC Mustangs, as well as a copy of "Diamonds are Forever". That is one classy build.
Speedfreak Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Beautiful! That red just screams, " I am very red!
awhitegt Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Nice job on a great subject, and I really like your outdoor photography.
mangodart Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 Thanks for the nice comments, I do my best do make the car looks "real" with the pictures I take....
Greg Cullinan Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 All time favorite car. Can I take it for a ride. Looks that good!
unclescott58 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Love the big Mustangs. I too have built a copy the Diamonds Are Forever Bond car. I used the last issue of the AMT Boss 351 kit with Keith Marks Mach 1 decals. The kit is a piece of you know what. But, it turned out fairly well. Scott
JTalmage Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Looks great! I'd love to find some of those rims so I can make an Eleanor clone. My favorite bodystyle of mustang... well.. besides all of them lol
freakshow12 Posted May 20, 2014 Posted May 20, 2014 Turned out great for a turd kit. Only nitpick I have is the engine is totally wrong. No FE engines after 70...
