Porscheman Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 This one started live with me in an ugly dark blue with red interior. The only thing missing was the convertible boot, steering wheel and tail light lenses. The body and interior were strip in Purple Power and the chrome bumpers were redone using BMF. The bodies paint is Krylon Pastel Yellow and wet look clear. The interior done Tamiya's in gloss black to bring out the vinyl interior look. The Modelhaus parts were used for the missing part. I never had this one before. It was an fun restoration. I still have 6 more to go, got a little crazy on ebay. Thanks for looking. Al
Ace-Garageguy Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 I really enjoy seeing your clean restorations. Very nicely done.
sjordan2 Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 (edited) The photos are very dim and small, and it's hard to see what you've done. The only critical thing I could say is that the convertible shouldn't be as shiny as it is. Edited November 27, 2013 by sjordan2
Harry P. Posted November 27, 2013 Posted November 27, 2013 The photos are very dim and small, and it's hard to see what you've cone. Click on them. Still dark and dim, but at least bigger.

Porscheman Posted November 28, 2013 Author Posted November 28, 2013 (edited) Sorry about the darker pictures. It's dark and snowing here and I had to take them in the garage instead of in the sunlight as usual. I'll update them tomorrow. The boot is shiny because, that was the only white I had left and I wanted to finish the model. But thanks for the nis comments. Al Edited November 28, 2013 by Porscheman
jaydar Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I remember my brother-in-law, Larry had one of these. Hardtop big engine. On of his kids let a crayon run down the defrost vent. I used to lmao every time he turned on the heat. It smelled like a candle factory....
PappyD340 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Very NICE save as usual Al, looks great to me!!
disabled modeler Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Well I like it...looks great to me. I have the same model from my dads old collection but have to find a rear bumper and taillights for it to do the resto.
realgone58 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Another beautiful resto! The color suits it perfectly. Krylon has lots of nice colors that replicate many factory colors, but I just can't get Krylon to lay as good as you get it to.

The only critical thing I could say is that the convertible shouldn't be as shiny as it is. Actually, the convertible should be shiny . . . as it is. However, the convertible top boot shouldn't be shiny - they are generally vinyl and should be semi-gloss to satin finish at best. Very nice build, Al! I love your vintage factory stock builds.

Alan I had to use a whole can of Testors Wet Look clear to get the Krylon paint to look good. The fumes were a good time Al
Tom Geiger Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Nice work once again Al! See you in a few weeks!
Crusader101 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Indeed, very nice. I'm certainly enjoying your glue bomb restos....they're motivating me to start on mine that I've hoarded over the past several years.....just pulled out my '66 Wildcat.
charlie8575 Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 This is great incentive to finish up the '64 Hardtop I've been poking at, if I can get everything to actually clean up so I can get it done. Looks great, Al. Charlie Larkin
peekay Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 I'm glad you got "a little crazy" on ebay; I'm sure none of the other bidders would have produced such a fine result. Looking forward to more.
lambrakos Posted November 28, 2013 Posted November 28, 2013 Just like your Toronado a flawless paint job. What paint do you use. MCW is my choise.
