Harry P. Posted March 17, 2014 Author Posted March 17, 2014 Relax Harry, spring is comin' on Thursday, at least on the calendar. LOL!!! We'll see...
Tom Geiger Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 Well we did it in Philadelphia today! We are number two! With the 4.5" recorded today, we slid into second place for the all time most snowfall. We've got 67.4" so far this year. Number one is the 2009-2010 season with 78.7" so we shouldn't beat that. And wouldn't ya know... in over 100 years of recorded snowfall, I've lived here for the two worst out of the four years I've been here!
High octane Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 That's all Tom??? I believe that we're close to 80" of snow for this winter.
Harry P. Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 That's all Tom??? I believe that we're close to 80" of snow for this winter. Yes, if we haven't already passed 80.
Harry P. Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 From the Trib today: 0.1 inch at Midway Airport brought the snow total at that location to 85.3 inches — tantalizingly close to the Chicago all-time record of 89.7 inches in 1978-79.
Tom Geiger Posted March 18, 2014 Posted March 18, 2014 A record that I'm very happy to let you have Harry!
Harry P. Posted March 18, 2014 Author Posted March 18, 2014 A record that I'm very happy to let you have Harry! Believe me, it's a record I could do without, too! And the funny thing is, I'm already getting flyers in the mail from lawn care companies. Hey... we still have snow on our lawns!

Craig Irwin Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 We are getting one good day a week, why can't it be during the weekend?
Danno Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Yes, if we haven't already passed 80. We've already passed 80 . . . it's been 83 - 85 all week, and for the upcoming week.
Rob Hall Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Yeah, still another 6-8 weeks or so of nice weather here...then 4-5 months of horror.
Harry P. Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Yeah, still another 6-8 weeks or so of nice weather here...then 4-5 months of horror. I think I'd trade our horror for your horror.

Harry P. Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 It's here........the now "S" word, is SPRING!!! Nick, You were correct sir, it's now arrived. :D And you know what else has arrived? Yep... more snow! Got an inch or two overnight.
High octane Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 We didn't get anymore snow Harry, you must live on the wrong side of the tracks. A VERY happy spring to ALL of you!
crazyjim Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 It must be spring. I cut the grass yesterday and was trimming bushed today. Pretty soon the pool will be open.
Craig Irwin Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 All next week has highs in the 30's and lows in the 20's. What is this "spring" you speak of?
Harry P. Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 We didn't get anymore snow Harry, you must live on the wrong side of the tracks... I guess so! Oh well... all of it melted away by noon. And tomorrow is supposed to be 60.
madhorseman Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 And you know what else has arrived? Yep... more snow! Got an inch or two overnight. Yeah, never mind that it was flurrying on my morning commute on southbound I294.....and visibility was marginal at best. So if we have more snow in the next couple of days, does it still count for the winter snow total? Since it it's now spring.
