Jason Foster Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Looks like a great start. Do you plan to use the kit engine?
slusher Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 Looking forward to this build Ray, I had a little trouble with a warped cowl but makes a sweet model...
rv1963 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I will be watching this one, I like the parts you will be swapping.
cobraman Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 Looks like a great start. Do you plan to use the kit engine? Most likely. I have been thinking I may just stick a Ford engine in it just for fun but probably won't. : )
gtx6970 Posted December 17, 2013 Posted December 17, 2013 I built one several years ago and to this day it's one of my favorites. You'll like it . It's a pretty simple straight forward kit that displays well
cobraman Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 A few years ago when these AWB cars were re-released I built 3 or 4 of all of them, Nova, Falcon. Mustang and Tempest. Except for engine and body they are pretty much the same. Easy to build and I do think they display nice when finished.
cobraman Posted December 17, 2013 Author Posted December 17, 2013 Got some stuff done on the Nova. Body and some parts have been cleaned and primed. Some parts were dullcoted and some chrome bits were stripped. I drilled out the gauges on the dash and cut the frame to put in some aluminum pieces to increase the length of the chassis.
dragcarz Posted December 18, 2013 Posted December 18, 2013 OK I'm liking this so far Ill be following
Fortheloveofgassers Posted December 19, 2013 Posted December 19, 2013 Great start Ray I too am working the same kit. I am building the Doug's headers Chevy 2 Much with I saw race at Us 30 drag strip In the day. I started with the rat packer kit but quickly realized the 1:1 car I wanted to build had some inconsistencies with the kit. First the body was wrong it is a hard top whereas the actual car was a two door post car. Additionally the frame on the full sized car was a square tube chassis and the kit is round tube. Soo I am making these changes. The engine in the kit is actually a big block even though I had my doubts. But someone on this forum was kind enough to explain that It is a big block due to the exhaust port spacing. I had hoped the valve covers would have been larger. Love the seat you are using Tell me what is in the pro tech package? Will look forward to following your build.
cobraman Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 The Pro Tech is just some under dash type gauges. Not sure I will add them or not.
cobraman Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 Got some more done on this wip. Body painted but still needs to be decaled and cleared.
cobraman Posted December 19, 2013 Author Posted December 19, 2013 Also just about got the interior done.
slusher Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 What color did you use on the body Ray, I like it. You have made lots of progress...
cobraman Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 This one is done. Will post photos later.
