IMPALA SS 427 Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 amazing work, those paint jobs are wicked. What tape do you use?
BKcustoms Posted January 19, 2014 Author Posted January 19, 2014 Tom, I glad the tutorial was helpful. I can't wait to see what you do on the 41! James, I'm using Tamiya tape cut into thin strips using two xacto blades put side by side into one knife.
TFchronos Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Those paint jobs and too cool for words Billy, amazing job!

1 bad55 stan Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 So mint,I'll have to try it,Thanks for posting a how to...
BIG NICKY Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 that car look amazing and I like the step by step as well. I would like to know if the wipers on "playing with kandy"are they photo etch or did that car just come with separate blades
Doug Bowen Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Billy...the layout part of this speaks to your artistic "eye". Without the "eye" part of this, all the masking/airbrushing skills in the world wouldn't yield the results you have seen. This is spectacular. As for me...the part that has me doing backflips is the simple tip about "taping two exacto blades together" to get consistent masking tape width. I am going to try that TONIGHT to see if I can cut some bare metal foil to use on those pesky interior door panel trim strips !! Great work...thanks, D
DumpyDan Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 So cool, wish I could paint like that....................lucky bugger.
BKcustoms Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 Thanks guys! Nick, I believe the wipers are the ones that came with the kit but they might also be from a 60' Impala kit I used some parts off of. Doug, thanks for the compliment! I always try to figure out a pattern that "works" with the particular car I'm painting. Most of the time I end up taping 3 or 4 times before I get something I'm totally happy with. And I never would've thought of cutting foil with 2 blades like I do with tape, That's a great idea!
