cartpix Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I found another "abandoned" project, a Revell 68 L-88 Corvette. I had painted it Testors, Colors by Boyd Pearl Orange. The engine block, heads, & oil pan had been assembled. The interior was painted & flocked but need assembly. This is the painted body with the rocker molding installed Engine painted auto parts Chevy orange engine paint & trans painted metalizer aluminum Interior assembled. Gauge "lenses" were simulated with clear epoxy Holley carb, from my parts box painted gold & silver. I still need to dull coat the gold Front grill & bumper installed Rear bumpers & tail lights installed Completed interior Engine getting there Soft top. Unfortunately, I didn't paint the hard top. I think I may have a little paint left, maybe enough to paint the hard top.
Custom Mike Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I love those old Boyd's colors, but they took forever to dry, being that this one was an abandoned project, it might actually be dry! Everything looks great so far, I'd go with the soft top myself, it looks great with that color body!
MoparWoman Jamie Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 I love the project so far! Nice detailing also!
High octane Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Looks sweet. While I do like Corvettes, I'm really not a big fan of them. My favorites are the '60 & the '68 and that's what attracted me to check out your post. Lookin' forward to seein' this one completed.
hjracing Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Great build, really nice paint job and details! I really like this car!
cobraman Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Looking good. I agree with the others.... Great color.
cartpix Posted January 12, 2014 Author Posted January 12, 2014 I did some work, to the motor, today I finished the plug wires & installed the carb Put the air cleaner on Added a fuel line And the oil filter
cartpix Posted January 13, 2014 Author Posted January 13, 2014 More progress, today. I got the chassis done The bottom of the cassis Wheels are from the Revell Owens Corning Corvette & the tires are from my parts box Body still needs the windshield foiled Firewall installed. Not much more to go.
Modlbldr Posted January 14, 2014 Posted January 14, 2014 Looking good. That is such a great color for that car. I just picked up a 69 Corvette kit recently for $5.00. I may need to dig out some of my old Boyd's paint and see if I can still build a kit OOB. Nice work. Later-
