Superpeterbilt Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 The AMT california hauler & Pete 352 have 8V71 detroits. I have a few that I wouldnt mind getting rid of. The AMT fords have 3208 Cats, and there was a 12V Detroit in the Tyrone Malone kit that P&P resins sells. The International kits have V8 diesels also, but I doubt thats what your looking for.Thats all I know of V diesels.Hope that helps

Petetrucker07 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Thanks for the info, superpete pm sent your way. Does anyone know of engine that kinda resembles the cummins isx, im doin a 389 conversion and thats what i need, just close not exact
Jim B Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Your best starting point for a Cummins ISX is probably the Auslowe Cummins Signature 600: http://www.auslowe.com.au/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=281&category_id=16&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=27
Force Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 (edited) Yes the Signature 600 and ISX CM570 is pretty much the same engine. Here is a list I put together from information found on various places and it should be fairly accurate as far as I know...I didn't do all the legwork so the credit goes to the people who did, I did just put it together in one list, corrected it some here and there and added some kits...I also posted it here on this forum a while ago. Petetrucker07 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Thanks jim and big thanks force. This list is just what i needed. I had no idea there was so many different engines in these kits and different resin pieces. This will really help move my skill along!
Dave Toups Posted June 17, 2014 Posted June 17, 2014 What's the difference between a Cummins Formula 350 / 400 and an NTC 350 / 400? Are they completely different engines or versions of the same engine?
Force Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 As far as I know the Cummins Formula is a version of the NTC.
Superpeterbilt Posted June 18, 2014 Posted June 18, 2014 Is that what they put in those Formula 350 Firebirds?
Chuck Most Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I didn't find one on the list (didn't think I would) but might there happen to be a source for a Cummins V8-185, or something that could be modified to stand in for one? I'd like to build a Lindberg Dodge as an L-700 with diesel power, and I'm pretty sure there's no Perkins 354 (the other available diesel) in scale. I'd go so far as to scratchbuild one if I absolutely had to, but I can't find any physical measurements for either engine, so if I could start with something in the ballpark I'd be happy.
Aaronw Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I think it would be neat to see a Dodge L700 with a Perkins or an early Ford C with an inline Dagenham or Dorset diesel. I have found a pdf of a Perkins shop manual that gives dimensional data and has a lot of diagrams / photographs.http://www.rgknightandson.co.uk/files/6.354.pdf

Jim B Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Well then I trust it! Dose anyone have any idea what color Dodge painted the engines in their heavy trucks? Were they OEM color?
Force Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 (edited) I'm not 100% sure but I think the large diesels were manufacturer color. Edited August 17, 2014 by Force
Jim B Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 That's kind of what I'm leaning toward. I have a photo of a Dodge Bighorn with the hood tipped, and the engine "looks" white, but you really can't trust 1970s color photography sometimes.
Mackvision Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Only exception I see to the color list is the 1693 and prior (older) Cat engines should be "Old" Caterpillar yellow?........................................Mark
Jim B Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I thought Old Caterpillar Yellow went out in the 1950s?
