Nacho Z Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 With the 8th annual 24 hour build just a short time away I thought now would be a good time to share this with all of you. This was done two years ago at the 6th annual 24 hour build. Pictures of that 24 hour build can be seen at Gary Kulchock's Fotki album. I had this kit as a kid and of course I did not do the best job building it. I still have most of the kit parts in a baggie. I was able to find an original sealed kit and snatched it up. The kit I used for the 24 hour build was the re-pop of this kit. I knew I wanted to add a little bit of detail to this kit so I made a few things and added them after the 24 hour build. I had trouble with the decals and decided to leave them off. Please note that the paint is straight out of a Tamiya rattle can and has not been touched. I was very pleased with it to say the least! The kit. I made the key and key ring from scratch. It took a couple of attempts. The decals were from the spares box. The following pic is of the pieces that will make the brake peddle and bracket.
Nacho Z Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) And now the finished product. I made an alternator bracket and ran plug wires. I also added engine and tranny dipstick tubes. I believe the engine dipstick handle on the 1:1 was a sword handle. Edited January 15, 2014 by Nacho Z
niteowl7710 Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) You left out the part about what an entertaining joy it was to put on those exhaust tips...or maybe it was only entertaining to the people watching Edited January 15, 2014 by niteowl7710
Nacho Z Posted January 15, 2014 Author Posted January 15, 2014 You left out the part about what an entertaining joy it was to put on those exhaust tips...or maybe it was only entertaining to the people watching Hahaha....yeah, I tried to block out that painful memory James. Gee thanks, now it is back to rehab for me....
crazyjim Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Nice and SHINY :) . Instant 3rd decree burns when you touch those pipes.
Nacho Z Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 Thanks guys! It didn't turn out too bad for a 24 hour build.
spotarama Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 i bought the re-issue of this kit years ago, it said on the box that it was 1/25th scale, imagine my surprise when i opened it and found the engine was about the same size as a small Fiat in 1/25th......
Lovefordgalaxie Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 It should be called Baker Trike instead. Just imagine your legs between the engine block and the headers with that big old V8 running at 180, 190 degrees at a parking light.
gray07 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Great job on the trike, love the details u put on it
Nacho Z Posted February 12, 2014 Author Posted February 12, 2014 Thanks for the nice comments guys! It is a unique model for sure and looks pretty cool sitting on the shelf.
