Thanks Tom and Dan for your comments...they're truly appreciated.

Its certainly been awhile since I posted and not really much to show but I have been working on the hinges for the doors. I'm using printing plate wrapped around piano wire and the curbside has them attached to the camper shell. I know the picture is quite blurry and its hard to tell what's going on. This camera's macro feature doesn't work nearly as well as my old one. I'll try to take better pictures later and post them when I get to the hinges on the door. For now, here's what I got.

A bit more work done on the hinges and as I was gluing them in place, the clear extension tube got the Zap A Gap split and a ton of glue went down the side of the body. Of course I didn't realize this and squeezed even harder making even more of a mess. A few choice works escaped my mouth and my wife decided to go sit on the patio. Nothing that can't be fixed however DSC is looming in a few months and I have several builds I need to finish up, this one included.

at least you are in Phoenix. Here in Pennsylvania my patio is still under two feet of snow! But I do love this project!

Ouch!

But, you'll . . . git 'er done! I have confidence. B)

Tom - thanks for following along.

Danno - thanks for your vote of confidence.

Well...with a bit of work, I was able to get this sanded and repainted. I was very fortunate as some of the glue fell inside the body but didn't land on any of the woodwork. Onward and upward.

Work on this has been slow but I want to get it finished for DSC next month so I've got to get moving. Thanks for your interest.

UPDATE: Brad displayed this trailer last night at our club meeting (Moonlight Modelers). It's still not finished, but getting closer. (It's stunning, by the way!) He won the balloting for the 'best project.'

Congrats, Brad. Can't wait to see her done . . . on April 12 at Desert Scale Classic 10!

Well, one hinged door is on and the other side is giving me fits. I glued on the body hinges and have been test fitting and then sanding down the door to get it to fit. The door hinges were made and when I went to attch them the body hinges came unglued. I hope to get this done tonight so I can move on to getting the roof on.

OK John - keep your panties on!!

Here's a few pics of my slow process.

Here's the one door that's done with it cracked open so you can see the hinges at work.

Here's the same door from the interior so you can see how the hinges are set up.

And here's a pic of the remaining set of hinges. The closer one needs to be remade as its too short. Each door takes four hinges.

The hinges are made from aluminum printing plate bent around the hinge pin which is piano wire, and shaped by using the ends of my metal rulers to get a crisp, clean bend.

That's all for now. Hopefully some serious benchtime in this weekend. That's my plan anyway.

Been busy this weekend and have gotten the doors on along with the fabricated door handles. Also got the propane tank prepped, painted and installed which required making a frame cross piece to hold it. It is plumbed and the hose will eventually run to the two burner cooktop on the counter. Also searched through my head and tail lights bins and found a couple of tail lights. They are painted, installed and wired. Sorry no pictures here at work, will post some tonight.

Thanks for following along.

Its about time I upload some photos and show you what I've been up to. I'm almost at a stand still until I get my vent cap back and a few other items from the MasterCaster so I can put the roof on. So I've been working on a few other things that I thought I'd share.

Here shows the doors both attached and working. Piano wire handles were added too.

Here's what I came up with for the taillights. Used Tamiya Clear Red for the lens color applied with a brush.

The propane tank is attached and plumbed all the way to the back for the two burner stove that's yet to come.

These last two pics show another of my hobbies and that's flyfishing with vintage bamboo flyrods. The tube is on the bed along with a few vintage sports magazines. I also made a rod, reel and creel.

Still a bit more work to do to the the rod and reel but I'm really happy with the results so far.

Thanks for your interest and as always, comments welcome.
