I think it'd be a great series to do some interviews and prolife some master builders.

We can start with people like Ken Hamiton (who we should actually roast on his birthday next year) and then move on to Pat Covert, and some other folks . . .

You want to roast Ken for building models, eh! That could be fun. What do you mean, no alcohol? Do you think all modellers stay at home and build and never have a sip?

So, a roast with something like, 'Here's to a man who builds models and dioramas as if they were built by Charlie Brown's brother PigPen...covered in dirt...and very interesting to look at.' You mean stuff like that?

I met whatisname brieftly at NNL East a few years ago and other than 'hi, how it's going, nice diorama, thanks' we didn't talk much...but his diorama said lots!

You bet, there are lots of great builders out there that I would love to read a profile and brief interview:

Tommy May, Steve Boutte, Ted "Chopper" Lear and many others . . . the list would grow and grow, which is a great sign!!!

Mr. Johnny Walker has helped me get through several models ;)

I think it is a good idea!!

I pitched this very idea quite a while ago to the "other" magazine. They felt that readers wanted models, more models and nothing but models in the magazine...no "reading material". It will be interesting to see how the idea is received here.

I don't know about others but I actually buy the magazines to read them. I would love to see that in MCM. Pics are great, but I have been reading since I was four and it is something I love to do. That is why I won't subscribe to the "other" mag; not enough to read. It seems each issue gets worse and worse......

And then they profiled Zoom Zoom....MORE PLEASE!!! :D;):D

I personally think this is a great idea. Gregg, you wouldn't have to look any farther than the membership of this forum to keep you in subject material for quite some time.

I agree that there should be a healthy mix of young and established builders . . .

And the articles can probably not take any longer than a page. They would include the builder pictured at his workbench, a few pictures of the featured builds and then the rest of the space given to a mini interview that might include great tips that the builder wants to pass on to younger folks, etc . . .

I mean, I don't have any formal layout in mind, but I think those three things would really be a plus. The interview is meant to be read, of course, but it could also be an introduction . . .

I don't want to mention any names, but I would tell you the one person I would love to see featured in the new builders (up and coming) list: ANDY JOHNSON.

And this is precisely why it would work. I've never been able to track down Andy to tell him I'm a big fan, and I'm no stalker, but I sure as heck would like to know more about him, his work space, and building techniques.

Okay, I'll shut up now!

Oh, well, one more thing:

If you really think my idea is stupid, then ponder this one: You'll Love it!!!

Okay, so every issue of the magazine will have a mystery (playing card--yeah, like Topps basebal or football) with the mugshot of a builder, some words, and then a picture of one of his/her more famous builds . . .

And these can be collected, traded, and or pegged on a board so you can have fun throwing darts at the builder of your choice!!!

Every issue will have a collectors card! Yeah, the more I think about the idea the more I realize I am totally INSANE!!!! :P<_<

Or even better--just to drive you crazy, Mr. Gregg--how about a centerfold poster of the builder surrounded by a few of his/her builds . . .

With a masthead that reads the same on every issue:

IF YOU KEEP READING OUR MAGAZINE, YOU TOO CAN BE THIS GOOD!!! <_<:P

As an "old" guy (75) and just getting back into modeling after about 40 years, I would really like to see some profiles on the master builders that show their works on this forum. It is amazing to me, the detail and skill that these folks have. I gain a lot of knowledge and ideas from the "tips and tricks" section and would really be interested in knowing more about these builders.

Virgil, you may be off your rocker, but this is an idea I'd love to see happen. I always find it interesting to read about the finest builders out there. Up and coming young guys are great, but time is of the essence to profile the many older pros! <_<

I guess if we could get Jairus to get Gregg to focus . . . on something other than that new SWEET Toyota vehicle he just got . . . or if we all keep nagging him . . .

Harry, you lead the charge!!! <_<

Getting Gregg to focus will be hard seeing with all those Wahines that surround him daily.

The other great idea or angle on this could be that a master builder introduces a younger builder they think is doing great work . . .

So in essence you'd be showcasing two builders in one article . . .

Surely there's got to be lots of both established and young/new builders out there . . .

Any way you slice it, it make for some great reading in the magazine . . .

Actually, I've been doing these for years.

I used to call them "Five Minutes With"

Haven't done one in a while, it's more of a time and space continuine thingee (I know, spell check the darn words)

Haven't had anyone lately who is interesting enough to do a profile on

All you guys are boring!!!!!

JUST KIDDING!

And of course, don't forget all the tributes I do

I am always open to new ideas though.

So the modeler trading cards is out of the question?

Can you hear the kids at model car shows going:

Hey, I'll trade you two Guvstafsons for your one Hiscano? :P:)

How about a "Modeler of the Month" centerfold?

Hey, if Burt Reynolds can do it...

Only if there's scantily clad lingerie models holding the model cars to distract your eyes from some old fart in his skivies.
