tbill Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 bought this kit forever ago, it was on a shelf in my cellar for who knows how long and was semi-chewed by a mouse. after my son found it and saw that part of it had been mouse food, I was going to use the body to practice painting on, well, don't ya know it, first paint job on it came out really good, so I decided to build it. I had placed a wanted ad in the wanted section here and Bowtienutz was good enough to send me the needed items to keep this a buildable kit [thanks again]. so, here is where I am at,
cobraman Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Looks good. Used some BMF up on that puppy. : )
kobuzz Posted February 9, 2014 Posted February 9, 2014 Agreed! What color is the interior blue? Love it.
tbill Posted February 9, 2014 Author Posted February 9, 2014 thanks guys, I'm getting better at this BMF and yes, I used quite a bit of it on this build, can only imagine how much I'll use when I get to the rest of the impala's in the stash [60-64] Scott, the interior is testors one coat lacquer #1844 Icy Blue, over gray primer, I would imagine it'd lighten up some over white primer as the cap on the can looks to be a lighter shade.
58 Impala Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Nice paint and interior. Ditto on the BMF, looks good.
Davewilly Posted February 10, 2014 Posted February 10, 2014 Great looking Impala! Beautiful job on the BMF
Bowtienutz Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Hey If I had known you were gonna do that nice a job I would have sent you my 1:1 Impala to restore
tbill Posted February 11, 2014 Author Posted February 11, 2014 thanks guys Vince, send the 1:1 over, been turning wrenches for 25 years, I'm sure we could fix her up

tbill Posted April 29, 2014 Author Posted April 29, 2014 (edited) bare metal foil. took awhile to do it, but it was worth it I think. I really need to get back to this kit, been on the back burner too long. Edited April 29, 2014 by tbill
tbill Posted May 1, 2014 Author Posted May 1, 2014 I will do my best to get back on this thing, I look at the body in the display case every time I walk into my build room, then work on something else, lol.
tbill Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 making progress on this thing finally....some mock up pic's, hope to have it done in the next few days
1 bad55 stan Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 That is looking so nice, your foil work is very impressive!
tbill Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 thanks, I think it was beginners luck and a sharp blade, lol. your pro street is looking dynamite!
Wonderbread Kustomz Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Very nice foil work and those colors contrast nicely together... I'm mainly a lowrider guy, but that looks sweet with the wheel and tire choice...
TFchronos Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 Beautiful color, amazing foil work. Very nice project.
