herrvee Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 I always loved VW fast street cars. I have a 1:1 scale one. This build is a tribute to the 70's cal look with all their display attribute. Pics are better than words. A dechrome body with OG paint, BRM wheels, etc... Next step, paint the body.
berr13 Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Bring it on...can't wait to see it! Cool display piece, too.
slusher Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Love VW projects. looking forward to more...
GeeBee Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Love those wheels, looking forward to seeing more of this build ....
Skip Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Love those wheels! The first "Cal Look" edition of Hot VW's shows up on eBay every once in a while, great reference material. Never found or could afford a set of BRMs for my oval window Cal Look Bug. I settled for chrome steel wheels 15 X4-1/2 & 5-1/2 running topper with genuine 356 hubcaps running on Perelli 135's front and 185's rear. Lots of guys ran that same combination which looked clean and cool. Fun little car got lots of complements.
Draggon Posted February 15, 2014 Posted February 15, 2014 Excellent work so far. Great job in duplicating the T-bars and Quiet Power exhaust!
crazyrichard Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 oh whow that is a awsome idea with the license plate holder !!!!!!!
FASTBACK340 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Nice job on the twin muffler and T bars. Is the Hurst shifter fabricated too? I had a `67 Cal Look back in the 80's. Sweet car, wish I had it now…..

Sweet car, wish I had it now….. yes the shifter is fabricated, it is more inspired by a Berg one than a Hurst, the late one has a differente shape than this.
FASTBACK340 Posted February 16, 2014 Posted February 16, 2014 Your right, the Hurst had the trigger lock-out for reverse. It's been a while…..
ningoth4 Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 What tires are you using to get the right big and little effect? I have a bunch of VW projects ready and waiting. I did get a set of the BRM's. Kevin
Zarana-X Posted February 17, 2014 Posted February 17, 2014 Nice shifter! Why are the mufflers blue? Never seen that before.
herrvee Posted February 17, 2014 Author Posted February 17, 2014 Nice shifter! Why are the mufflers blue? Never seen that before. the mufflers are from my spare box, they come from an old kit, but I do not which one. They are not painted in black for the moment. thanks for your comments.

Kevin front tires are from a 2cv tamya kit, rear from my spare box, waiting for almost 20 years in it, they are racemaster super stock, 8.00*15, old mpc origins if I remember well, If an historian of the tire in scale can confirm my telling....
