Since it's a gasser theme this year, I built a 55 Nomad A/FX dragster. It's posted "Under Glass".

I also plan on finishing a Revell 49 Merc that I've posted "On the Bench". I should have it done before Christmas...

See you there,

I have no idea (actually finishing something would be a feat in itself for me), but I really want to make it this year. Do you happen to know the dates yet?

I will be there again. As of now, I have about 12 models I'm going to bring. Mainly race cars, ranging from Le Mans Prototypes to GT's. And of course, the street Cheetah. But I have 2 more that I'm working on right now that I am going to try to have done for the show.

Thought I'd bump this one instead of starting a new post.

Can any of you give me an idea what to expect? I've tried to get down there the past couple of years, but this will be the first time I've actually made it.

It's a very laid-back show. One side of the hall is all for the models, which can be placed anywhere. There is no section for particular cars except for the theme and usually youth categories. Dioramas are usually put on the back wall. Very friendly atmosphere. People are very willing to talk and give ideas/suggestions.

The other side of the hall is for vendors, which there are a lot of. Easy parking access. I get there early so I can get a good spot to display my models. There's food places that are fairly close by.

Hope this kind of gives you an idea. Even if you're not going to show your cars, come anyhow. Lots of people come to see the models and to check out the vendors. It's one of the best shows that I've been to. There is usually a get together on the Friday night before the show for people coming from out of town. It should be up on the NNL West site.

Well, last year there was close to 1,000 models on display. As I recall, there was somewhere between 35 and 50 vendors selling just about anything you wanted from new kits, resin kits, photo-etched goodies to the usual assortment of kits that are worth more in their frequent flyer miles than they are in what some people were asking for them. :)

This year should be just about the same. Here's the link to the website: NNL West

Your big fire trucks would be very well received! The larger scale and bigger format models usually win the People's Choice Award.

Hope to see you there!!

Then I'll pick out a mug, will the airlines let you bring one on the plane or are they worried you might break it and take over the plane with ceramic shards. ;)

Thanks, guys, I wasn't sure the website is kind of vague so I wasn't sure if it was a show up with what you brought at he last minute kind of thing or if there was supposd to be some sort of registration I was missing. There are a couple of us somewhat local from the Scale Firehouse hoping to make it, maybe take over the end of a table with cop cars and fire engines.

As far as the original post I should have my '68 Plymouth Fury Park Ranger patrol car finished this weekend and I have a couple of 40-50's Forest Service engines I'm trying to get finished up in time to bring them.

 Just bringing myself. Want to see up close some of the work that I've seen on this site, and meet some of their makers.

Come on, Milt...you've got to bring a build or two...

I'm bringing a bunch of cash to share with the vendors!

Seriously it is low key. show up with you models.

Tell 'em how many models you have at the front table.

They'll give you the little tags to identify them. Find a spot, fill out the tags. Buy raffle tickets. Check out built models and shop.

Works out pretty close to a perfect day!

Kind of the whole point of the show is for expert builders and people who are just building up their skills to get together to learn from each other. I have a tendency to look at the kits of people who are just starting out, because a lot of time they do some things that helps give me ideas. Sometimes they have different ways of doing things, such as technique and the order of the process of building that are different from the way that I build. Sometimes they're better and sometimes they're not, but it make you think.

You'll see a huge range of abilities at the show, which is a nice change. This way I'm not always looking at the expertly done kits. Please bring your models; we want to see them.

My stuff is junk too, Milt!! It just looks better in the pictures!!

Really, please bring what you've built. Only the arrogant turds will turn their noses up at your work, and they’re not the people that we want to talk to anyway.

Remember, we all started building models with the same skill set, dazed and confused!

I think it's mainly from the paint and the glue. We learned to open a window later on.:lol:

I missed the last two years but I'm not missing this one. I'll be brining the same cars I've had before, and maybe a "Modern Muscle" if I ever get around to finishing it. This time I'm bringing the kids since there seems to be something for them at last. Or is there?

"To learn more, send an SASE"? Why not just put all the info on the website?
