Hi!

I'm little desperate.

Two Dodge pickup projects is stuck because I can't find VTS 4x4 conversion kits. I have emailed to Perry but no answer. and I can't afford to visit his shop in Canada

Is perrys kit scratch built or can those parts be found in othert kits? If somebody has kit(s) to sell please send PM.

This is a picture of the kit (I hope)

There is a topic here already on the problems with Perry's Resin so I will refrain from bringing it up again. That said, I don't recall there being a kit version of a Dodge 4wd set up for the late model truck and am wondering if that resin piece shown is from a GM truck modified to fit the Dodge?

I have a couple of the Ram VTS pickups and would like one of these as well.

I will dig around in the stash later tonight and see what I can find......

That would be the wrong front suspension for that generation of 4x4 Ram, those used something more like the solid axle and 4 link with a track bar like what the MJ, XJ, ZJ, and TJ Jeeps all used........just heavier duty. The '02 and newer 1500's are IFS while the 2500 and 3500 Rams still use the beafier version of that solid axle front suspension. Edited by Joe Handley

You are right, '96 RAM should have solid axle.

Perry's kit looks more like Dakota ifs but only Dakota kit is Lindberg Sport Dakota and it has promo style chassis so parts can't be from it.

Solid axle resin parts are easier to find and thre are several sellers who offers it.

I just checked an AMT Snap Fast Tahoe kit and that front end is identical, so it is NOT a Dodge 4wd set up. I might have an AMT Escalade kit in the stash and will check it to see if that front end is in there.

Could be a GM setup, I'm just not familiar with the 1:1 4x4 truck IFS systems. Literally the only vehicles we've owned that were IFS and powered the front wheels were the 4 FWD cars and 1 Minivan we've owned over the last couple decades.

You are correct, Joe. Here's the front suspension removed from a '97 Ram 2500:

If you want to make a 4wd vts ur gonna have to get a straight front axle (driver side pumpkin) and scratch a 4 link track bar and coils. I'm in the process of doing one now. Got a set of "Dana 60s" from bnl resins. Quality pieces.
