jjsipes Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 I have seen so many of you guys using Scale Finishes paint, that I decided to try it myself. I have ordered some and I have seen where some of you use the Tamiya Primer under it. Does the paints need to be lceared or not?
martinfan5 Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 (edited) It depends, if you get his enamel based paint then no, that is just a one stage paint and is glossy, if you use his acrylic paint, that is a two stage paint and does need to be clear coated Edited February 25, 2014 by martinfan5
jjsipes Posted February 25, 2014 Author Posted February 25, 2014 The bottles I got has gloss enamel on them and was reading on his application guide and was thinking that I didn't need to clear it but I seen where he offers different paint types i believe so I was wondering what all you guys have done. Thanks.
jaydar Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 He offers a clear enamel for use over the gloss enamel if you feel you must. Joe.
Modelbuilder Mark Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 If you are using the gloss enamel, then you may not need to, depends on the quality of your paint work. If you like a DEEP shine, and you plan on multilpe sanding grits and buffing out the paint, you may want to clear coat it so you have more depth to work with.
curt raitz Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 Jameston has an "Application Guide" on his website at: http://www.scalefinishes.com/use.html Covers everything about his paints, enjoy
Jantrix Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 If you are using any decals I would recommend clearing regardless of paint type.
