7000in5th
1965 IH Loadstar Fire Truck - Interesting front end, didn't do much for in-town maneuverability!

Brian Austin
Fire trucks are pretty much custom-built, and builders did often "borrow" cabs from major truck builders. Too bad there are no markings on the cab to further research.

7000in5th
John Lingenfelter Scout From Charlie Lingenfelter: “John raced a 1962 2wd International Scout with a turbocharged 4 cylinder. It was an old orange Indiana & Michigan meter reading vehicle.. I believe this picture was taken at a Milan Michigan NHRA Points Meet in the fall of 1969. Note the 7″ slicks. This Scout would pull the wheels off the ground as it left the starting line. Not bad for a U/Stock race car.” David Palmeter: I had the great pleasure to work with John at IH Truck Engineering. My favorite story - to improve traction, John initially ran with the spare on the tailgate. NHRA made him take it off when they found out it was filled with concrete! More here: https://palmeter.com/trucks/ Thanks for the info. The thing that strikes me as being odd was that the NHRA inspection got upset about the concrete in the spare but ran this in a stock class with a non stock turbo charger. Sorry, the wagon is not mine☹️, just a pic I pulled off the net. Are the ones you posted diecasts? They are nice! I have a Cooper Tires diecast Willys in those colors. Tom Geiger
Yes those are all Liberty Classics 1/24 or 1/25 scale. Very detailed and nicely finished. Difficult to find without tampo logos on them. A perfect example of diecast in our scale that we will never see as a plastic kit! So I buy them.

But that was John's neat trick. He convinced the Scout Chief Engineer to list, with the Automobile Manufacturers Association, the turbo (and some other goodies) as Scout stock. At that time, the NHRA used AMA specs to verify stock class cars. Learning those tricks was a great benefit to John when he opened his own shop. During a tour of his shop in 1996, he already had an LS1 months before it was introduced in the 1997 Corvette.

Tom Geiger
Here’s some photos I saved of some rugged survivor Internationals. This one is Stan’s truck from Mountain Men. I believe it’s a Traveller cut down with a Dodge pickup bed. And this one was on Alaska Last Frontier. I think it was a Scout.
