crazyjim Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I like the SHINY :) , but where's the rear view mirrors?
Cato Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Harry, Just noticed in your WIP that the steering wheel looks sorta like the 'biker's cross' (or Blue Max and such) seen in the '60's and '70's. Did your reference show that as accurate to the date??
grayghost Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Very nice Harry. But you should put a hemi in it.
Harry P. Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 Harry, Just noticed in your WIP that the steering wheel looks sorta like the 'biker's cross' (or Blue Max and such) seen in the '60's and '70's. Did your reference show that as accurate to the date?? No, the kit wheel is wrong. I should have changed it. The spokes should be wider at the hub than at the rim, and should also be straight, not curved.
Ace-Garageguy Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 I've really got to hand it to you for arranging your life so you have both the time and energy to consistently turn out such good looking models AND make a living. Good management skills there.
Cato Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 No, the kit wheel is wrong. I should have changed it. The spokes should be wider at the hub than at the rim, and should also be straight, not curved. OK that will cost you 3 Concours points.
Harry P. Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 I've really got to hand it to you for arranging your life so you have both the time and energy to consistently turn out such good looking models AND make a living. Good management skills there. One of the benefits of being self-employed is the ability to make your own schedule (most of the time, depending on how desperate and/or demanding the client is). And working from home means no daily commute... that gives me probably an extra hour or two every day that most people lose to travel time. Not to mention the huge amount of $$$ NOT spent on gas just to get from here to there and back to here again every day! I did the "rat race" routine for years. Can't say I miss it one bit.
peekay Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Another wonderful old classic. Flawless detail and finishes, as always.
Chris White Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 What museum or art gallery do you supply the models too !!!!! They are always nothing less than perfect
Harry P. Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 Nice work Harry, but you forgot a rear view mirror! Does the model have engine and chassis detail? No, this one is a total curbside. There is a basic front and rear axle, springs, but not much else. But that's ok... it looks pretty good on the top side!
Harry P. Posted March 24, 2014 Author Posted March 24, 2014 What museum or art gallery do you supply the models too !!!!! They are always nothing less than perfect Thanks Chris... but they're far from perfect. Like the comment Cato made about the steering wheel earlier... he's absolutely right. It's not accurate, but I let it slide. So much for "perfection!" In the end, my goal is a reasonably accurate and attractive shelf model. I don't do contests, so I don't "sweat the details" as much as if I was building for competition. I can tell you this... if I was going up against a John Teresi or a Mark Jones or one of the other off-the-charts builders here in a contest, I'd be paying a lot more attention to every little detail! But to recycle the old cliché... I build for me. I don't have to worry about whether or not any "judge" likes it.
Belugawrx Posted March 24, 2014 Posted March 24, 2014 Love the top, Great job on that!! ...and the rest of it too
realgone58 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Another incredible build! Love the color choice on this one. Neat little car.
Sixties Sam Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Very nice build! I bet that top would cause drag like a parachute! Sam
Harry P. Posted March 25, 2014 Author Posted March 25, 2014 Very nice build! I bet that top would cause drag like a parachute! Sam Not much drag at 15 mph...
ChrisR Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Very nice Harry. I still have one on my shelf that I build about 30-40 years ago. Compared to yours it looks like junk!
charlie8575 Posted March 25, 2014 Posted March 25, 2014 Nice little car, Harry. And such a cheerful color. Whose kit is that? I might go scrounge one of those up myself. And yes, I'll again make a call-to-action from the kit makers for more of these little jewels in 1/25 scale. Charlie Larkin
