gasser59 Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 I got the base done to where I'm satisfied with the varied colors. I mounted the trees and have been playing with the placement of the trailer, table, chair and fire ring. Then my grandson thought it was cool so he picked up the trailer and repositioned it after he snuck in the hobby room. I was lucky that he has gentle hands. I also decided I didn't like the way the hinged 'lid' was held open with a pole all the way to the ground so I built a strut. Much better, now I need to make another for the other side. Pictures at 11...
Danno Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 Looking forward to it . . . and setting my DVR in case I get busy and forget to watch!
gasser59 Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 Ok, its not quite eleven so I'm a bit early. Here's the base with the trees in place. The trailer is right about the spot its going to be mounted permanently. And here's a picture of the strut. One more of those to go I was hoping to get a bit more done this three day weekend but it was not to be. Thanks for your interest and comments welcome.

gasser59 Posted July 11, 2014 Author Posted July 11, 2014 Thanks for the comments guys. They're really appreciated. I hope to get more done this weekend. Thanks for checking in Gregg.
gasser59 Posted July 14, 2014 Author Posted July 14, 2014 A bit done this weekend but not much. I made a wooden soda crate to be used as a step. Made from basswood and printing plate strips and hand lettered the label. Needs a bit more weathering especially on the bottom. Progress is slow but its still progress.
John Teresi Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Brad………really nice!!!!……..you are the minature "MASTER"………I do keep your work on reference files……..thanke Big Brother
charlie8575 Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 That looks spectacular, Brad. If the job I had an interview for (or one of the eight or nine I have active applications with) happens, I will be taking a personal day or two to come out and see this next April, along with all the other miniature wonders of the southwest. Mooneyzs Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Brad.... This diorama is off the hook my friend. I love all the little details you keep adding to it.
Danno Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 Brad entered this diomodel in our club's monthly contest (this month's theme was "Builder's Choice," where anything goes). There were 17 entries, but Brad's trailer and campsite won handily. It's a masterpiece!
gasser59 Posted July 27, 2014 Author Posted July 27, 2014 Chris - thanks for your interest. I'm just about done adding things. I need to finish off the base edges and call it done. Danno - thanks for accolades. I love those Builder's Choice nights. LOL Terry - thanks for following along.
gasser59 Posted January 18, 2016 Author Posted January 18, 2016 This weekend I was able to finish up and attach the frame edges and glue all of the loose stuff down. Even added rubber feet to the base to get it up off the surface. Pictures later tonight.
gasser59 Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 (edited) Here's those pictures. Might still have a few things to add. Thanks for sticking with me on this one. Finally could call this done, maybe not. Edited August 21, 2017 by gasser59 1
gasser59 Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 And another shot. I like this one the best. Thanks. 1
Sixties Sam Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Great diorama! So many nice details. Wonderful work on this! I made a campground diorama a while back in 1/12 scale, but yours is more detailed. Here's a shot of mine.
gasser59 Posted January 19, 2016 Author Posted January 19, 2016 Sam - that is so awesome and cleanly built. Nicely done. I wouldn't have anyplace to display anything that large.
