slammedi'am Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 (edited) Well, our local club is doing a tv/movie car theme build....So,I started searching my options...Wanted to do something different... Bullet...Nope...Christine..Nope...Smokey and Bandit,General Lee....no Then I found the pic...One of my favorite movies... Dazed and Confused and the 70 Chevelle...Had one in my stash (Baldwin Motion kit) Found a stock hood and decals and here is where Im at....I cant tell you the last time I did a factory car build...I will use some of the performance parts under the hood... Had some Firestone tires from an old testor kit which looks good on it....Painted the wheels and got the body in primer.... Almost got the interior done....Dropped the front down just a tad so stance is perfect I think Edited May 14, 2014 by slammedi'am

1972coronet Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Dazed and Confused is , in my opinion , one of the best examples of a period correct film ever made . That Tuxedo Black '70 Chevelle was gorgeous ! The only 'flaw' that I recognised --and it a was scripted-dialogue flaw-- was the character's description of the car's "427 ... 11:1 pop-up pistons..." . Certainly , given the car's *age* in the year represented (1976 ) , a replacement Mark IV 427 would've been plausible ; however , it was most-likely an LS-6 , which had the "11:1 pop-up pistons". Looking forward to following your replica's construction
slusher Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 Nice work on the interior and wheels and tires Shane....
Toast Posted April 30, 2014 Posted April 30, 2014 One of my favorite movie cars. I dig Chevelles and it's name just has a certain ring to it. ;-) Your interior looks great, can't wait to see more progress.
slammedi'am Posted April 30, 2014 Author Posted April 30, 2014 Thanks everyone.... Its one of my favorite movies... I do know the car was an auto but Im building it for something else also... My dad had a true 70 SS LS6 back when I was born....Sold the car for $2500 at that time back to the original owner....The original owners ex wife, hired someone to burn the car after Dad sold it back to him
