Sixx Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 June 11th, right here in Crown Point Indiana! I've gotta check it out, never seen the "tour" before!
Robberbaron Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 Sweet! Closest it's been to us previously was probably in Lansing, but I think that was right after they started it in the late 90s. Don't think it's been anywhere near our neck of the woods for a long time. My first reaction was that it's going to be crazy if they try to do it on the square, but I see they're having the stop at the Lake Co. Fairgrounds. Now I know what I'm doing with my kids that night!
Austin T Posted May 25, 2014 Posted May 25, 2014 I went a few years back when they stopped in Nashville. Pretty cool show, lot and lots of sweet rides too.
Zen Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 Hoping to do the Crown Point stop, gotta see if I can get the day off!
espo Posted May 28, 2014 Posted May 28, 2014 This is a must see event. Many years ago the tour spent the night in nearby Overland Park Kansas. Drove over after work for a look see. I was pulling into the parking lot and looked in the rear view mirror to see Vic Edelbrock Jr. behind me in his '40 Ford delivery. So many great cars and people.
Chas SCR Posted May 30, 2014 Posted May 30, 2014 It ended in Michigan last year in Grand Rapids and was in Detroit back in 03. I have done the long trip once and would like to do it again some day
mnwildpunk Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I did the long hall back in 99 with my Camaro and I got to meet a lot of cool folks even christopher Titus the comedians. Sadly lack of time has keptme from going again but also the quality of the magazine has went way down so that also plays a part in why I don't go
Sixx Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 I'm cheesin big time to see this! There's no hours on the flyer...does anyone know when they'll be pulling in? Crown Point is full of motor-heads anyway, this is gonna be cool ! :-)
drball Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 They will have hours from 12-7. You must have forgot since I told you that a few weeks ago LOL.
Robberbaron Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 The Times had a write-up today: stated that they're guessing they'll start arriving at the fairgrounds around 2:00 PM.
Sixx Posted June 6, 2014 Author Posted June 6, 2014 They will have hours from 12-7. You must have forgot since I told you that a few weeks ago LOL. Yep, I had a huge brain-fart!!! Lol ! Too much resin & vinyl in my head after being at Wonderfest!!!!!!!! That's my story and I'm sticking with it !!! Lol !
Eshaver Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Folks , the 1964 Black GTO convertible belongs to my boss I write for . He owns part of Still Runnin Magazine . His name is John Dunham . They will also lead a parade at the Sloan Museum June 17th .
Dan Helferich Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I still have my hat from the very first tour. They stopped in Mount Clemens MI., and I lived in Clawson. If you get a chance check it out.
tubbs Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 always a good time. my buddy is making it his last year and running the whole distance this time. he will be driving a yellow superbird.
johnbuzzed Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 The tour starts tomorrow here at Charlotte Motor Speedway/Zmax Dragway and spectator admission is FREE! Richard Petty is scheduled to be signing autographs from 10-11AM. Yep, we'll be there, with both of my unbuilt Petty kits!
mnwildpunk Posted June 7, 2014 Posted June 7, 2014 Make sure you check out the blashemi 55 chev if you see it
johnbuzzed Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I took a lotta pictures, but I am most happy with these: ">http:// ">http:// ">http://http://s889.photobucket.com/user/jbuzz710/media/CAM00467.jpg.html'> I was humbled, honored and happy. I could have left right after this with no regrets, but we did stick around for a lot longer than I thought we would. Best part- it was FREE! Not even a parking fee, no admission charge. So I spent some $$$ on a t-shirt, a license plates, a magazine subscription (with free t-shirt), food and drinks... and saw a LOT of cool cars, including "Blasphemi". Hopefully, more pictures will follow. And, we did decide that the Power Tour is on our list of to do's- someday.
Robberbaron Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 (edited) John, great to see those pics with the King. I'm not much for seeking out celebrities, but Mr. Pretty is on the short list of people I would genuinely want to meet. Everything I've seen of him indicates that he's a man of integrity, and quite humble considering his accomplishments. Something that seems to be more and more lacking in new, up and coming drivers, and celebrities in general. Keeping my fingers crossed that they're wrong about the weather forecast here in Indiana on Wednesday: looking like rain all day. Edited June 10, 2014 by Robberbaron
Sixx Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 Oh my God!!!!!!!!!! I heard there was 5200 hot rods & muscle cars that showed up!? I walked way too much, all this metal in my back really tore my leg up! I am so messed up right now, but man was that a BLAST!!!!! Now, they are all cruising by my house to get to I-65! I guess I could have just sat in my driveway & watched 'em go by!!?? Lol !!
Robberbaron Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 No idea how to guess the total number, but it was impressive! Nice that we had a break in the rain. My only regret is that I didn't have enough time to see everything I wanted to. Knocked off work a bit early, ran by my house to grab the wagon and my kids and headed over there. Got about 2 hours to wander around. Got a pretty good workout pulling my kids up and down all those hills! Fun time - literally anything you could think of in the automotive spectrum: ratty gassers to pro-built cars like Chicayne (62 Biscayne by Rad Rides by Troy), Model A's to new Corvettes. (not many furrin' cars though)
Zen Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Yup, great time indeed despite all the rain we had to drive through coming down from Michigan. No complaints thou, my 1986 Mustang GT handled it well.
